Hi Marek,
It sounds like you've got a bit of work to do - but it is also well
worth it if you are in a position to get it done.
1) Cat eating to the side: This is natural as the cats main cutting
teeth are in the rear of their mouth and to chew through anything they
need to use these and can only use one side at a time. Many domestic
cats do not have this habit because they are brought up on a diet that
needs no cutting (tinned food and biscuits). I would not worry about
this too much at this point in time. When you get around to getting
him to a vet they will check his teeth as part of a general check-up.
2) The weeping eyes is a concern. While it could be an allergy it is
more likely that it is a form of cat flu (which can be mild or
terminal). Again this is something that a vet can investigate when you
get to that stage. Weeping eyes can be a symptom of many cat illnesses
and most of them are contagious so make sure you are very careful not
to transmit the potential virus to other cats.
3) Cat not meowing. Cats, like dogs, do not meow (or woof for dogs)
naturally in the wild unless they are fighting or mating. Cat and dog
vocalisations are a learnt behaviour from being around humans. The
feral I adopted didn't meow for about 6 months but learnt how to off
my resident cats, he started off with some pathetic "mews" and now has
progressed to the more substantial "meooww".
Good luck with it all and keep us posted!
Troy.
