A few weeks ago, I made up a similar story of Sesame Street characters Bert and
Ernie fighting over a woman on the Jerry Springer show, and posted it on the
Sesame Street newsgroup. I thought it was great, but the people over there
apparently have no sense of humor, as I got people really mad at me.
In my Sesame Street/Jerry Springer version, a bomb drops as Bert's longtime
girlfriend announces that she is pregnant with Ernie's baby. Bert charges the
stage and nails Ernie over the head with a chair, and Ernie gets in a couple of
retalitory punches at Bert, before the two of them are restrained by Steve the
security guy.
Needless to say, the relationship between Bert and his girlfriend is over, as
is the friendship between Bert and Ernie. How sad.
