Dear John Adams (and the Wisconsin Group and all Surrealists) and everyone
here, John, You write, "The WAH-Event is unimportant and therefore barely
worth my
second thoughts; however, I don't think they are immune to
being challenged on the merit of their ideas or representation
(which is paltry and dilettante - who really takes them very seriously,
anyway?).
Not that I or anyone else need answer to Keith Wigdor, regarding
the "International Surrealist" event in Ohio: I don't know any of the
details myself. As far as I can tell it looks just like an art exhibit and
see no evidence of anyone whoring out their artwork, atleast not on
the Sea Lion page which I've looked at".
John, thank you for providing us your thoughts on this
matter, but Please Allow me to investigate this further. John Adams, do you see
any EVIDENCE of anyone at the WAH Center's SURREALIST EVENT, "whoring out their
artwork"??? John, I know that you are a Surrealist and firmly stand by your
convictions and your input. We all have the right to know the answer here, IS
THERE ANY DIFFERENCE in what goes on over at WAH's show (which was very
successful in regards to an audience turnout, by looking at the pictures) as
compared to what goes on over at SEA LION? I am talking about EXHIBITING AND
SELLING ART? John Adams, I know that you are being fair and rational and
providing your inout, but know let us all UNDERSTAND that if the WAH Center is
presenting an EXHIBITION, and foolishly putting on that silly spectacle of,
'Surrealist Fashion Show', then I can see and understand the criticism.
However, it is Very Obvious that the MAIN FOCUS of the WAH Center's Surrealism
Event was the EXHIBITION of 500 plus Artists. For anyone to SIGN the WAH
Protest Letter STATING that they would, "BURN THE PAINTINGS" and, "HURL THE
SQUIRMING PARTICIPANTS, RIDICULOUS COSTUMES OR NOT, INTO THE EAST RIVER", does
not appear to me as mild black humor. John Adams, I can understand your
willingness to supply an answer for your comrades, but please help us
understand some clarity and specific answer here. I am not asking this directly
at you John, but your comrades who you will defend (I know that). HOW MUCH
MONEY ARE THE SURREALIST ARTISTS THAT ARE EXHIBITING IN OHIO AT SEA LION
STUDIOS ASKING FOR THEIR ARTWORKS ON EXHIBIT? John, we all have the right to an
answer. Even if tehy do not provide us with a PRICE $$$$, Can they tell us HOW
MANY ARTWORKS were Sold or ready to be sold? According to Sea Lion's Website,
there is a 30% commission on sales from any art on exhibit at a month long
engagement booked at their gallery studio. That is what their website says,
John, so you know as well as I do, that they will not just offer their SPACE
and GALLERY WALL SPACE for FREE, we all know that. I know the prices that the
New York Galleries like Agora ask for an exhibition and remember THIS is a
GROUP EXHIBITION and some art has to be available for sale, that is just
reality. We cannot escape that fact. John, these people signed a PROTEST and
NOW they go and commit a worse offense against SURREALISM than any Art
Establishment like WAH would. IF Evi and Hannah and X and James and Andrew and
the rest of the gang were to ANSWER and EXPLAIN their $$$$ Actions, since that
Protest Letter, then we can gain some insoght into their disgusting hypocrisy.
Does the Paris Group stand by their comrades while they exhibit their product
in OHIO?
