All of these things are interesting on a psychological and sociological
level. I don't believe in such things as the "paranormal" but observing
how the human imagination can be contorted is always interesting to me.
The Surrealists were always interested in studying various mythologies.
Altered states of conciousness are always very interesting to me, mostly
in terms of the knowledge that any thoughts and perceptions experienced
in these states is always there waiting to be tapped. Drugs are not
necessary to attain these states but may be considered as a shortcut or
a window into those states. These experiences can be useful for
exploring the edges of conciousness and perhaps leading the way to a
point of view that is normally obscured.
I think that the mere knowledge of the fragile nature of perception is
alone very valuable.
