Instant coffee and coffee of ANY "real" sort don't even compare: they
are actually entirely different drinks, and one is the Eugen McCarthy of
liquids. Paul's been drinking instant "coffee" since forever: he is
obviously beyond any ability to taste the difference between Mayan Onyx
and a good (or even a bad) Espresso blend, or even between any canned
species of the drug and a llama's pizzle drip. As for tea, the subtle
range of flavors to be found in most teas is beyond a person who could
abuse their palates in that fashion for so many years, just as affection
escapes the man who thinks beating his wife each night with a pruning
hook should get him an article in Good Housekeeping. Instant "coffee" is
purely a caffeine delivery system, and would be improved by removing
that artificial "coffee" flavor and replacing it with tampon crystals.
Horrid!
