I saw the Cornell films on Saturday. Largely they are montages of existing
films he found in used goods shops. Children's birthdays, circus performers
especially acrobats, animal movies, children's puppet shows. It was good, but
even six films was too short, lasting in total about fifty minutes, and only
seeing it once for me often isn't enough to really know what lasting value I
would take from repeated viewings.
These films aren't in heavy circulation -- I don't think they are released on
VCR.
The Larry Jordan video was also shown of Cornell's house. The fact that
Cornell never did one filmed interview shows the obscurity he sought or
endured, or humility the man showed about wanting to remain a private figure.
It was said that he did turn down interviews.
