POET'S POSTSCRIPT
You know those weird word-lists that you get in spam
emails, or find randomly on the web sometimes?
I got one entitled "demean Liverpool", that had a
small smudge at the end, which turned out to be a
one-point font. I expanded it to 14-point (below), and
tried to make sense of it. The above poem is just trying
to make sentences out of the raw material from the spam.
I think that the spam maybe it is some kind of crude encryption
or steganography. Perhaps the purpose of broadcasting to the
world, as spam, is to hide the fact of who is the real,
intended recipient, to whom the message will have
meaning. The feds can probably find the source,
but not the destination.
Just a theory. On the other hand, maybe it the mad
ravings of prophets. As such, it is our duty as poets to
attempt to divine their meaning and bring these
important revelations to the world ;-)
In any case, don't blame me. Blame this "Marcia Mcgill"
woman, whoever she is. I doubt that's even her real
name. Yes, I was in Liverpool last year, but I will
swear under oath before a Senate committee, that at
no time did I meet with such a person as "Marcia Mcgill".
I almost got robbed by that no-good Maggie May,
who has robbed so many sailors on Lime Street, but that
was all. She tried to get into my hotel room at approximately
4am in the morning, but I sensed that foul play was imminent,
and wisely chose not open the door.
