voices carry a boat
  of little sailors
to the center of the small town
which is happy to see them
and they are glad
to be in from the sea

after a night of singing
  and dancing
the town closes up
  like a little music box
and quietly they sleep
  all but the captain
who is pretending to play
  simon says with his shadow
soon the men will be fighting
  another war, somewhere
sleep is just a useless commodity
  one can trade eight hours
for a good sea lion
  or a waterfowl
