XNews and Agent are the most popular in this group currently.
Agent has been around perhaps the longest and I've been personally
using it over 10 years. Sure, one can steal it, like so much other
stealing that goes on the net but it is easily the best $20 I ever
spent on software. (I think it now costs $30). It's something I use
every day and has worked great almost every day for over 10 years for
me, something no other single piece of software has done.
XNews is still free. But I list all the popular ones, even stuff for
macs, along with a short discussion of features of each. - Doc
