i agree that he has made his same point over and over again, but he
keeps getting replies attempting to argue counter to his point.
Therefore, it's not unreasonable to expect him to re-argue his point.
As for *him* being heavy-handed, i don't really know...i don't think
it's too much of a stretch to consider file-sharing stealing. The rest
is all semantics and rationalization.
>And, speaking of putting words in my mouth....I never said I did not find
>my opinion to be significant. Show me where I said that, Chris.
Well, that would be my interpretation of the following quote
(especially the first and penultimate sentence):
<I'm no more significant to the RIAA or the rest of the world than he
is. I haven't set myself up as the moral watchdog of the world,
though, as he has, and am happy to realize that all I am is a small
cog in the workings of a universe that will go on with or without me
and my opinions. Ponder that for a bit.>
Sorry if i mis-interpreted it. i re-read it now, and i still see it as
an admission that our opinions are pretty insignificant to the
ultimate mechanics of Universe.
>> and is
>> enough to warrant cutting him down with unbased insults.

>Are you really so challenged as to consider a quote from a character in a
>comedic movie (Robin Williams in Popeye, actually) as a significant

>my own words, not those of a cartoon character.
Well, there ya go. i've never seen that movie. But there you go again,
assuming someone has lack of intelligence because they're not like you
(in this case, hasn't seen the same bad movies).
>> No, it's not a problem for me for you to have opinions. It's just your
>> heavy-handed, holier-than-thou, insulting demeanor.

>I'm not sure where you get all that from other than the fact that you

>then by all means don't read or reply to my posts. Or, do as you
>already have and post insults toward me, the exact same thing you are
>hypocritically calling me on the carpet for doing, by the way.
i have already begun skimming your posts; perhaps that will lead to
ignoring them completely. But, at the same time, i rarely look at
*who* posted, i just look at the content--that's all that really
matters, isn't it?
As for me being hypocritical: i called your behavior to task. i
compared it to a man many might even *like* to be compared to. Perhaps
we agree that Dubya's actions and decisions are unjustifiable, i don't
know. But i do know i've never insulted your intelligence or opinion,
only your actions, which you've put out on display for all to see.
>I really don't give a shit either way. Maybe that's what you find
>threatening?
Nope. What makes you think i'm feeling threatened? Have i resorted
baseless insults upon your intelligence? Or called your position a
serious distortion of reality? Have i retaliated with the same
condescending manner you write me?
>If you want to reply to my posts and have some sort of intelligent
>discussion, argument or exchange of ideas, then have at it, I'd be glad
>to exchange ideas with you. That's what this is all about, isn't it?
Yes. That *is* what it's all about. But you can't find the ideas
around here with all the f-ing static. (i *will* say, though, that in
less opinion-based threads, your posts are usually static-free, a joy
to read.)
>> It's like trying
>> to argue with Rush Limbaugh.
>
>Another misguided attempt to characterize me as a right wing nutcase. If
>you would have read the thread and digested it at all you might find that
>one of the things I've been accused of here is taking the "left wing" or
>"liberal" position. You guys can't have it both ways, you know.
Us guys? i don't know who and what the rest of me/us is, but i'm not
characterizing you as anything. i have no idea where your politics
lie. And i don't really care, either. i never compared your *ideas*
with Rush's, just your style or argument.
>I was making a point, one about which I feel strongly. The person I was
>speaking to had repeatedly tried to sway the discussion using all manner
>of tactics except one...coming up with any more original ideas.
As i said above, i agree that he only has one point to make and he has
made it, and he keeps on making it. He doesn't *need* any more
original ideas, he only has one. As long as he keeps getting arguments
to the counter, he will keep making that same point.
> Like I
>said, if you don't like that, then don't read my posts. If you disagree
>with the points I am making then by all means offer an alternate
>viewpoint, if you have one.
My viewpoint is only that you command a certain amount of respect
earned by all the true help you offers users of Mx. You lose that with
off-topic personal insults. Whether from a "funny" movie or not! ;-)
> If you can't do that and all you can do is play the fool
> by trying to insult me by comparing me to two of the most
>successful, wealthy and arguably powerful Republicans in the country
>today...well, you are seriously missing the target old boy and you need
>to just chill out.
i'm chill, but thanks anyway, bro.
