AMY STUDT has been dropped by her record company Polydor.
It's bad news for pop svengali SIMON FULLER who had hoped wild child Amy
would be a British AVRIL LAVIGNE.
The 17-year-old was given the chop last week after failing to sell enough
singles or albums.
Her debut single Just A Little Girl charted at a disappointing No14 in 2002
and since then her highest placing has been No6.
Her last single, a cover of Sheryl Crow's All I Wanna Do, only reached No21.
And her debut album, False Smiles, stalled at No18. An insider at Polydor
said: "It's a tough world and the fact is Amy didn't sell many records."
Fuller was sure ex-convent school rebel Amy would prove to be the antidote
to his flagging stable of squeaky-clean acts.
I am told Simon is determined to make Amy a success and may now relaunch her
under his own label - like he did with Emma Bunton.
But I'm sure he won't lose any sleep for the time being - he's made a
fortune out of American Idol.
