If you don't mind harsh vocals try out : Children Of Bodom.
Screaming guitar soli. Melodic and catchy songs.
Young finnish kids.
Otherwise still catchy but without "death metal" voices : Stratovarius,
Edguy (Helloween heirs!).
Blind Guardian (especially their concept album : Night Fall In Middle
Earth).

Mainly European bands though.
