Personally, I don't have much objection to downloading music if, after
an extensive search, one can show that it's no longer available from any
source.
In the case of the first challenge, I showed that it only took me 5
minutes to find every one he requested. I'm not going to repeat it again
because it's irrelevant.
If it's available, you're morally obligated to buy it or do without.
If it's NOT available (after an extensive search, not just looking at
the local record store), then I would consider it to be a gray area. Of
course, if you download it and then it later becomes available, I would
consider you to have a moral obligation to buy it.

Once again, if you own the LP, I don't consider it to be a problem if
you download the track for your computer. That's essentially equivalent
to ripping it yourself.
