Index7, an online service dedicated to providing upfront information about
forthcoming seven-inch single releases, has launched today.
The site will provide news about future releases, and a free platform for
record labels to promote their new seven-inch releases. More than 30 labels
have so far signed up to have their releases listed on the site, including
Moshi Moshi, White Heat, City Rockers, Loog and Transgressive.
Index7 founder Nick Levine says, "The seven-inch single has undergone a huge
revival in recent years and this resurgence of interest, in what was once
thought to be a dying format, now sees it account for up to 15% of physical
single sales.
"Many record companies also value the promotional power of the seven-inch
single highly with more and more frontline physical releases coming out on
this very collectable and chart-eligible format."
Levine adds that Index7 believes strongly in supporting UK independent
record shops and will provide links and information about independent record
shops where seven-inch singles can be purchased.
The site is online now at www.Index7.co.uk
