Can anyone deny that the quality popular music has declined steadily
over the past 50 years? I grew up in the late 70's/early 80's
listening to bands like Cars, VH, Rush, Police on the radio. Today I
cringe when I walk by daughter's room and here the strained, faux,
suck vocals and recycled suck riffs from the likes of Seether, Trapt,
etc.
My timeline may be a little off, but anyone can see the trend:

It's impossible to quantify music objectively, but isn't obvious to
everyone when they hear the opening guitar/drums of "I Can See For
Miles" or the vocals on "Don't Worry Baby" or the sheer musicianship
of "Revolver" that they are infinitely superior to something like
"Numb"? Suck, faux-rap over recycled dogshit 8-year-old-could-play
riff? It makes me cringe just thinking about.... Nu-metal.. Suck-
metal... whatever you want to call it, it is clearly the nadir of
popular music. I feel sorry for today's youth. And, I'm not even
going to go into the hideous melismatic over-singing that
characterized by American Idol and it's ilk...
