so, did anybody else buy $80 tickets, purchase hotel rooms, and travel
to Los Angeles for the fith or sixth annual Giant party? (giant
village) 15,000 people, its billed at the "world's largest over-21
NYE's party", heres the site:
http://www.giantvillage.com/
...note, this site *just changed* -- up until about an hour ago tonite,
it was still the event promo. now its a page declaring the event "post
poned" and is dated Dec 31 (yesterday). however, at least for me, this
page was *not* up yesterday.
the tickets say "rain or shine", but they cancelled it due to, uh,
rain. not until we walked up to the gate did we learn it was canceled.
rumor has it theyre not giving refunds, but instead are going to honor
the tickets NEXT YEAR. but on the ticket sales site, it says, "If you
bought tickets from Groove Tickets you will be notified in the next 48
hours regarding refunds":
http://www.groovetickets.com/OrderSystem/groove/eventviewqb.asp?Affilid=93&EventsID=18869&PGName=GIANT
(honestly, when i bought my tickets, the groove site was framed from
the giant site, so i didnt even realize i was buying them from a
vendor.)
did anyone else go to this debacle? it said rain or shine on the
ticket. i for one do not believe renaming the cancelation to "post
poned" is fair -- you cant *postpone* a new year's party! the point of
the party is that its new years eve! i think us customers we should
DEMAND our money back, w/ the threat of refuting the charges via our
credit card lendors.
if you feel this way as well, email groove tickets:
help@groovetickets.com. let them know your disappointment, and that you
expect a full refund, not credit towards another show or new year's eve
party (trust me, enough bad publicity CAN change a company's mind).
