Been there already. Got mine around the same time as yours, maybe a couple
of months earlier from their online e-store (the iFP-899 one). I never got
an answer on the phone nor via e-mail. Every time I called I got put on
hold forever and then the final blow was when they cut me off as they close
at 5 pm and I got kicked to the "leave a message" which was never returned
over the three weeks I waited for a return call.
I finally got fed up and bought another brand, primarily due to the white
noise that became prevalent with better ear monitors like the Westone's or
Sensaphonics (of which I'm ready to board a plane to Chicago on their slow
service as well). I sent the iFP-899 in without a RMA and I really didn't
care if they kicked them back without it or not since I have other players.
I just stuck it in a generic U.S. Postal $3.90 mailer and was done with
them. If they kicked them back, I was set to drive to their operation near
San Jose and sound off in person since I've been known to explode in the
past over poor service.
Well, surprise me. In less than a week I got a whole new player (boxed)
with the newer armband (it's a harder plastic verses the cheaper thin sleeve
unit). It performs better than the old one and white noise was very much
reduced and pops were less too. I don't notice the pops as much as before,
but I'm using an Archo's now which has far better amp noise reduction, imho.
The Archo's AV-420 is a great player - although it is more of a media player
unit.
Remember, not everyone has internet or email and RMA's are more of a
hindrance to getting service than what may be implied by your state's
customer warranty claims with regards to faulty equipment. It's worth a
shot just to mail it in.
Good luck.
