The iTMS shows it's feasable (and profitable) to do online distribution
of music. Bang goes the costly distribution middleman between artist and
consumer. Getting rid of this cost means the artist doesn't need a big
record company on their side to underwrite the expensive marketing and
distribution. Bit of word-of-mouth "advertising" or reputation systems
like Audioscrobbler, send your master straight to the iTMS and bob's your
uncle. No record company needed.
