So, if you're an Aussie muso, you're not going to open yourself up to
a highly published, global market, where the sellers handle the money
for you at bugger all fee? Yeh, right.
And while the "fairplay" algorithm Apple uses is proprietory, the AAC
format is no more proprietory than MP3 and recognised across all
platforms.
