I've heard this as /'i:ka:n/ in IPA or EE-kahn. It's pretty informal,
however -- you'd probably wouldn't hear it anywhere but a college
campus in the States.
The resident British English expert of this group, a certain irascible,
utterly humorless individual commonly knows as Chris Croughton (or, on
occasion, "Puff Daddy" C & C Lexical Factory) might be tempted to
produce a similar version of what goes on in Ye Olde Country.
