Hello,
My Webster's Dictionary says:
an-ther (an'thuhr) n.
1. the pollen-bearing part of a stamen.
Derived words
--an'ther-al, adj.
--an'ther-less, adj.
And WordWeb:
The part of the stamen that contains pollen; usually borne on a stalk
Also WordWeb about "pollen":
The fine spores that contain male gametes and that are borne by an anther
in a flowering plant
So I think that the book on botany will be the best place to check this one.
Best regards.
