I'd recommend against losing it. Keep it, instead, and add another (the
"Standard American English" accent).

I own a tape set called "Power Talk" by Bettye Pierce Zoller, Hugh
Lampman, and a couple of other folks, and I think it might be what
you're looking for. Amazon.com has it listed for $50 USD and I believe
it's available on cassette only.
