I thought it was funny.
Ofcourse it was an blowed up image of the Japanese, but I don't think it was
the intention of the makers to make it a movie reflecting the complete
thruth. caricaturizing the Japanese in the movie brought forth some
recognizable features, but exaggerated from real-life.
Like sex-in-the-city exaggerates 'single life in the big city' this movie
did with the famous american selling products in Japan.
When I lived there I saw numerous commercials of famous american stars
(Bruce Willis, Tiger Woods) selling resp. Gasoline, Canned Coffee in stupid
commericals for a shitload of money. I can image them feeling the same as
Bill Murray in the movie.
