He will enjoy the dreamcast more.
The game gear is essentially a handheld sega master system (it can even play
sms games through an adapter). So you get less than 8-bit graphics, poor
sound, and a not so clear screen. Not to mention that the game gear eats
batteries for breakfast. Now take the dreamcast: 128-bit, better-than-ps2
graphics, lots of quality games that are cheaply available (check ebay),
great sound. Seems like a clear choice to me now :)
