While I'm not the person you asked, I can give you an example of why
someone wouldn't want their posts archived. A few years ago, I got a
message from a teacher in Germany asking me to remove my archived posts
which were in response to his posts. As you probably know, games with
excessive violence are banned in Germany, and he had posted messages in
a couple of newsgroups for banned games. He found out that the
principal of his school was searching newsgroups for posts by his
teachers and was afraid he could be fired for posting to particular
groups, so he removed his posts from the archive and asked people who
had responded to them to remove theirs since his name was in them.
While this may be an extreme case, there are many people who don't want
their employers, co-workers, friends, or families knowing where they
posted and what they said in their posts, and not all ISP's or news
servers allow anonymous posting. I happen to like having my posts
archived so I can look them up again, but I can understand why some
people don't want their posts saved.
