While digging out a new addition to the Den, DaFox found a scrap of parchment. On it,

That's because you, or someone who uses your computer has set Google to do so. Use
the " Preferences " link that is to the right of the search slot to set how the
engine will work for your searches. Click this if you somehow don't see it:
http://www.google.com/preferences?hl=en
The news group section of Google is : http://groups.google.com/ of which you can add
to your favorites and it will use the preference settings from above. You can also
reach it by clicking the " Groups " link above the search slot on the Google main
page. If you enter http://www.dejanews.com/ in your web browser, it goes to the
Google page above, as Google bought Dejanews a looooong time ago... Oh and the link
is one whole character longer if you must type it in each time.
If you wish to add the news:alt.games.warcraft Google group to your favorites, use
this link and add:
http://groups.google.com/group/alt.games.warcraft
As for it not searching for new content, that is an issue on your end with the
settings in your web browser... Click Tools/General tab/Temporary Internet files
section- Settings, and adjust " Check for newer versions of stored pages " to " Every
visit to the page "
If your still seeing the wrong results or old content after adjusting all above, you
may be the victim of a trojan/worm/adware that has hijacked your web browser or
remapped your Hosts file and/or your WinSock layer in your Windows to redirect your
search requests to a fake engine, in order to feed you content that " they " wish you
to receive. Check your system with an up to date virus scanner and an adware scanner.
And if you can't see this post at all on Google, or any reputable news group archive
service, it's because I actively block archiving in every newsgroup post I make. It
is what I want to do.
