'In case you havent seen it yet the US House of Representatives voted
today in favor of banning most online gambling by using credit cards or
other electronic transmission to settle debt/make wagers.
IF taken up by the US Senate and IF passed there, this bill would
effectively outlaw online gaming for money, with the exceptions of
online lotteries and online horse racing. I urge any US citizens to
email both your US Senators and express your extreme displeasure with
this bill, telling them in no uncertain terms to vote no to this
legislation, if the Senate even considers it!
This legislation is backed by anti-gambling conservative groups, credit
card companies and some banks, state run lotteries, brick and mortar
casinos and the horse racing industry, among others. If passed, you and
I couldn''t play online poker for .50-$1 or enjoy a ticket game of crib
for $.50 or more. What a farce.
My opinion this kind selective enforcement is a bad idea and if the
banks and credit card companies are having high incidents of bad debt
due to abuse of online gambling by a few people, they should cut off
their credit limits, not penalize the other 99% of people who gamble
responsibly. Sorry for the rant-but it just pi$$es me off to no end how
our government prioritizes some things. Pete'
