Guidelines are not the same as rules, unless specified in an ISP's
contract with a subscriber. Perhaps you should defer to the actual
developers of the technology and Usenet hierarchy rather than assume
you know better.

If you can't be persuaded because you can't abide so-called "net
nannies" and people that are trying to "control everyone's lives,"
then you misunderstood my post (i.e. if you're lumping me in with
those groups). By rendering an opinion I was hardly trying to
"control" your life or even your behavior. Your free will and
liberties are not in question, simply your lack of consideration of
others.
On the other hand, it's perfectly understandable human nature to lash
out at someone who calls you an asshole, but even so it is usually
advisable to take the higher ground. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Now who's insulting who? I certainly don't believe I should be labeled
as a "little guy" just because I have an opinion different from yours.
I was definitely not "telling you what to do" or stopping you from
exercising your right to free speech.

I just thought you might be interested. Caring about what others think
is generally useful, but detrimental if taken to self-conscious
extremes. Not caring at all is the definition of a sociopath. I have
no idea where you are positioned between those two extremes, but I
certainly don't doubt that you don't care.
