Solomon's Private File #463
1950's. Stephen wrote about his life in letters to a penpal, and then
in a secure blog, in case he lost his memory again, in the master
computer in his school for gifted students, which he started attending
in 2016 in a new incarnation, until his death. Now his son Solomon is
attending the same school, and is writing in his own secure blog for
his future incarnations.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
Solomon is 36 in this story, in the Fall of 2062.
Solomon's Private File #463 "Not Political Influence"
START Page
In a show on CNN, we ran the three species on one planet action,
carefully edited to remove comments about the stones. They liked my
fading out exits. Mario said, "How those fighters reacted to you was
very interesting. They could actually sense how how good a fighter you
were, and so you didn't have to do any fighting!" I said, "One of the
goals of martial arts training, is to avoid fighting. There, it worked
well." He said, "Why the coins in the wall?" I said, "Think of it as
payment for them not bothering me. They knew I was better, and they
wanted something from me they could see of that. I considered it
something of an obligation to give it to them." He said, "That's called
noblesse ablige. That people of higher rank should be generous and
helpful to those of lower rank." I said, "Also related to the 'show
must go on', concept, and I WAS deliberately putting on a show with who
I was to them." He said, "That's true. Thank you for that
clarification. The lesson here is that cooperation works much better
for all, than coordinated and dishonest opposition to other groups."
I said, "Did that statement just come to you?" He said, "It did. Do
you like it?" I said, "Yes. Good one. Ever think we're sometimes
motivated a little by some higher power?" He said, "Oh! I said
something too like what you had ready to present at the right time?" I
said, "Exactly! I don't think that was a coincidence. It happens too
often around me. And there it goes. What we just said, caused somebody
to do something that enables me to present it. Hmm, you've seen me
manipulate entire populations for the greater good, in my actions. They
don't like it. Well, I sure do know how it feels!" He grinned and said,
"And God does it to you." I said, "He does, and likes it!" He laughed.
We went to break.
I said, "Off the record, a Senator is calling me in a panic, saying
he didn't mean it, and it was an accident, and I shouldn't make what he
did cause me to expose the others in that meeting. Oh, that grin is one
for the record books!" He laughed. So did those in the control room. I
said, "Better straighten that face out. Gloating is unprofessional." He
did, but it almost hurt. Back, I said, "What just happened illustrates
the difficulty of keeping confidential things confidential. People are
social beings. The more secret something we know is, the more the urge
to share it. Resisting that is tiring, and sometimes even painful, and
you always have to guard yourself against revealing it, because one
little jab at it, and it could come out of you before you can stop it.
Then it becomes worse in two ways. The first way is the person you
told, has less of a reason to keep it secret than you do, and so does,
even less, the people he tells, and on down the line, and it spreads to
the whole population, the more so, and urgently so, precisely because
it was supposed to be a secret. People will be more interested in that,
because of the supposed secrecy, than things that are much more
important to them. You could call it the Benghazi syndrome, if you
will, in media coverage of that process." He said, "Well said! We in
the media depend on that, to uncover secrets. In fact, we see it
happening with people feeling greatly relieved to do it."
I said, "I had a meeting with some people. I said I would keep it
private if they did. One just violated it, and that meeting was about
what you said of the lesson in the action we just presented. Another
coincidence? I doubt it." He said, "So we should know by this that God
actively supports you, and not just on other worlds." I said, "I think
the paternity issue, and His speech to the world about it, pushed that
point home rather strongly. But that was just talk. Obviously, that's
not all he does." He said, "Do you know when he uses your powers, and
the powers of others of your group?" I said, "I can't answer that with
useful accuracy. My powers, yes. Others, I don't know if I can know
that. And He's not limited to my group." He said, "Oh!" I said, "God
speaks to all people, mostly below their awareness, but sometimes that
can be of significant influence. I think He doesn't usually do it in a
forceful way, because we all have to learn from our mistakes. But in
support of some important situations or missions, I've seen it happen.
While we have a right to our annoyed feeling about that, we should also
trust in God, that he really knows what He's doing."
I said, "After all this build up, people are straining to hear what
this is all about. After the break." Off air, he laughed, and said,
"Well done!" I said, "Not just because my victims are really squirming
in their seats, making their brains itch?" More laughter. He said, "Is
there going to be more of that on air?" I said, "Serious roasting. Not
funny." Back on air, I said, "I do evaluations of political appointees,
and other government workers on request. So do others of my group.
There are a lot of them. Some aren't hired, because there are less
available positions than the number of applicants. Some agencies like
to keep a er, stock of potential hires on file, for unexpected
vacancies, such as what happened recently on the Supreme Court. One
more thing about my evaluations. They usually involve some counseling
and personal improvement. Well, that's what I do." He said, "Many of
those people have told us that, and how much they appreciate it." I
said, "That causes me to have a personal investment in them, which has
nothing to do with politics or party affiliation."
He said, "I think I see where this might be going. You would want to
oppose unfair attacks on them." I said, "More so when it happens in
public." He said, "Understandable." I said, "First in that is to ask
why. Here's the meeting where I did that, not edited." I showed it, and
what caused the reveal. Then we went to break. He said, "Wow! I can see
why they didn't want that made public! But you knew it would happen." I
said, "And my group were all grins about that." So was he.
Back on air, he said, "So they didn't have a good reason for their
opposition, and won't confirm or deny your proposed reason. We're
getting a lot of comments about you calling it treason." I said, "I
don't see any other word for that, that works. They did it specifically
to harm the government, purely for political gain. If anybody can apply
a more accurate word for that, I want to be corrected." He said,
"Should they be prosecuted?" I said, "They didn't admit it, so their
motivation can't be legally proved. Tough case. But spanking, yes." He
almost choked. He said, "You did compare them to children." I said,
"Children of the world, I apologize for comparing them to you. Most of
you are much better than they were. Yes, sometimes you do bad things,
often not knowing they're bad, or because you just didn't think of it
then. These people DID know better, and LIKED doing bad, and felt good
doing it. That's worse than bad. They were mean to people who didn't
deserve it, and they didn't care about that. I know most of you
wouldn't do that! You know what's wrong, and what's right. YOU know
about the Golden Rule. Keep it shining for me, and for YOU!"
We went to break. Mario said, "I loved that!" I said, "So did most
people. A small minority are being very, er, vicious, mostly, just
because they can. And not very well. Oddly, copies of what they're
posting anonymously, are being sent with their real names and addresses
to their disagreeing friends, family, and employers." He said, "Oh! Can
Maybe later or next time. See if they have the courage to complain." He
nodded, and tried not to grin.
Back, he said, "You said the President would know. Did she?" I said,
"I didn't tell her. Not doing that, convinced her." He chuckled. I
said, "And I said CNN would have noticed what they did, and might want
to talk to me about it." He said, "We did notice, and did comment on
it. We didn't ask you about it because it was political. I didn't think
of that when I made my lesson comment at the end of the alien action."
I said, "But you had thought of it before, so it wouldn't have taken
much for God to use that to influence you in what you did say." He
said, "I see that now. Thank you. With what's come from it, I have to
thank Him. I feel honored to be er, used." I said, "Now you know how I
feel." He said, "Yes I do." Grins.
I said, "There is more to this. We elect people to do what we want
them to do. Often that isn't in the best interests of the voters and
the country, because the politicians only pay attention to the loudest
voices in their constituency, which are usually the most stupid and
destructive, and to those with the most money to give them, who are
often NOT their constituency. When the politicians, for whatever
reasons, can't be as effective as those strident voices and money
demand, they resort to doing it to an extreme, even though they know
they can't be successful, to prove they're trying, no matter what the
damage is they cause by that. They do it to be reelected, in the
beginning, but soon they learn to take a perverse pleasure in that. And
that's what happened this time. Is this really how our government is
supposed to work? Shouldn't we require those who represent us, to act
with honesty and honor? Shouldn't they be the best of us, not the
worst? There is another part to this. Some people want to elect people
specifically to harm the federal government. Call them closet
secessionists, if you will. That's treason."
I said, "Senator John McCain said live on TV that the reason that
Republicans wanted to reduce the federal government was so the states
would be more free to do want they want, because they would be more
able to convert some states than others, to conform to their religious
and cultural views, where that would be against the federal
Constitution. The two other religious Senators with him were horrified
that he had revealed their plans and motivation, and tried to change
the subject, and it was mostly forgotten by the public, and the
cooperating press. Conservative billionaires financed that goal, for
that reason, and because they expected their companies to have more
profits from the reduced regulations they could buy in those states, no
matter how much that harmed people and the environment. In my opinion,
all of that is treason. America is ONE country. Individual states are
NOT separate countries. Our major laws should be uniform across all
states, as they are in a REAL country. A very destructive war was
fought over that. For many, that war never ended. It's still being
fought, as I just showed you. Stop it."
I signaled the end, and it happened. Mario said, "I didn't expect
THAT!" I said, "You know what I would say to that." He said, "Yes,
good. The recording?" I gave it to to him, and to the control room.
They played it. And the other recordings with it, that illustrated what
I said, all from the mouths of conservatives. Then they played the time
dive recordings, and that REALLY drew a lot of comments! That caused
the headlines like "AGENDA EXPOSED!" Some said I was influencing
politics.
I said in a statement, "All we do in the public eye, influences, to
some degree, politics. That can't be avoided in a democracy. In my
standard of not trying to significantly alter cultures by force, I also
extend that to politics, by not favoring one group over another. In
correcting bad behavior, lies, and sins, party affiliation doesn't
cause my actions. If one party appears to draw more of my negative
attention than another, it's because the people in it are doing things
that I should correct, more than the other. I don't control who does
what. Individuals do, but it might not be a coincidence that people who
don't want to do dishonorable things, favor one political party over
another in which one they join or support. I didn't cause that. People
did. Those who think I'm being unfair about this, can ask the people in
the other party to be just as bad. Or, demand the people of the party
you think I'm most er, negatively active with, become better and more
honorable. You all have choices. I don't. Don't blame me if you make
wrong choices, and then cause me to act in ways you don't like. You're
like a carpenter who keeps hammering your thumb, instead of the nail.
Don't complain about the hammer for what YOU cause. And your Boss, God,
really isn't happy with your work. Keep doing that, the Boss is going
to try to correct you, but he'll send somebody to do it for him, first.
That doesn't work, you'll be out of a job, and the Boss is really going
to nail you with a bad reference. Your next job is going to be worse
than you really want. Er, incarnation. Is that what you really want? Do
better. Please."
That drew smiles from the media, and praise from some religious
people. Some Republications said I had helped them. Governor of
Virginia said, "Solomon didn't know I was a Republican when he approved
me for a position, head of FEMA, in a Democratic administration. He
didn't care. He discovered it when I told him I was going to run for
governor. He still didn't care." DOT said, "You know of my TV show with
Solomon, which started out against him. He approved me for a cabinet
post, and for me to still be in it after a change of administration. He
doesn't care about political parties, but he DOES care about people
doing good and honorable work. You do that, you have his approval. I'm
proof of that." As he really was, it helped.
A man was ranting on a local TV talk show. He said, "I don't care
what Solomon says. I don't believe in reincarnation!" I shifted in, and
said, "As an adulterer, you should. Much better than everlasting hell."
He stared at me, and ripped off his mic, and ran out of the studio.
Host said, "Does his wife know?" I said, "If she's watching, now, yes."
He said, "Oh!" I said, "Oops, it didn't matter. She's getting calls
about it. I recommend the local police have a unit nearby. Could be
something of a tense situation, soon." He tried not to laugh. He said,
"Why did you decide to do this?" I said, "Holier than thou ranting with
hypocrisy and sin, in public? How could I resist?" He almost strangled
trying not to laugh. I said, "Just doing my job. He wanted to make
himself an example, but he was a little confused about exactly what
kind of an example. I helped him to clear that up." He said, "I have to
say, you did make that clear. Thank you for stopping by." I said,
"You're welcome. Any time!" I shifted out. That went up the network,
and online. It was very popular. He wasn't, though. A lot of religious
leaders smiled at that one, and they knew I knew that, and smiled wider
because of that. I gave them love. They really didn't hate that.
A man came into my political approval office, and said, "I'm a
Republican." I said, "So?" He grinned. The interview went well. I said,
"Any vetting issues?" He said, "No." I said, "You don't have to tell me
about them, but we're getting into the real reason why administrations
want us doing this. We detect lies. I have to tell them there's a
possible vetting issue. If they actively consider you for a job, they
won't hire you without knowing it, and they'll ask me if you tell the
truth about it. Nobody in their right mind, or left in this case, wants
a public scandal the opposition would love to play with. Republican
Administration was the same. If they hadn't used me, the media would
have LOVED the results." He laughed. I said, "The one group I didn't
approve, that needed it the most, was the selection committee. Telling
me now, would be in your favor, but I'm not requiring it." He said,
"You know all. You won't tell them?" I said, "Not without your
permission. It's like a Confessional. We can go privileged if you want
to discuss it in private." He said, "I request that." I said, "Done.
Only others who know all will know. Well, they already do. I know, it's
difficult to understand that."
He said, "I'm gay." I said, "That's not a vetting issue in this
administration, and it's against the law to even ask about that. Is
there more?" He said, "When I was 14 through 16, I had sex with men.
For pay." I said, "Earn a lot?" He said, "Yes, actually I did." I said,
"So far, what you've said is not a sin, in my opinion. THEY sinned,
though. But there's more. You stole from some of them, and they
couldn't report you, because what they did with you was against the
law. You didn't have to do that. Was it lack of respect for them, that
caused it?" He was surprised, and said, "Yes, I think it was! Wow!" I
said, "Some became possessive, always a danger in that business." He
said, "Yes. I knew that." I said, "Boys who grow out of their age range
while in the relationship, have a shorter life expectancy." He said, "I
knew that, too." I said, "Living in fear is no fun. I know. I've done
that in past lives. You were lucky." He cried, and said, "I know that."
I hugged him with love.
I said, "That life has affected you. You haven't had a steady
relationship. You never told your partners. Did you think they would
spread your secret around?" He said, "Yes I did." I said, "When they
got too close to you, you pushed them away in fear, those that didn't
leave because they knew you couldn't trust them enough to be honest
with them." He said, "Oh, that seems right." I said, "Even though you
chose that life, most people would consider you the victim, and not
blame you. At least people YOU would respect." He grinned, and said,
"Well put." I said, "They would forgive your stealing in that
situation, too. You were not arrested, so you have no criminal history.
Parking tickets, though. Yes, knowing all, can be useful." Grins.
I said, "I propose this. You allow me to tell them you were an
underage hustler, but not as an adult, and you have no record, and your
er, clients are unlikely to come forward, or as they did then at times,
backward." He laughed. I said, "Too bad Hawk missed that one." He said,
"I have to agree." I said, "I'll say that in my opinion, that should
not affect your hiring prospects. They usually go along with that." He
said, "Wow!" I said, "That, too." He said, "I didn't expect this!" I
said, "And that's sad. People should know me better, but some just
don't want to, who always like to think the worst of people, to make
them feel falsely superior." He said, "I think I understand that. I
agree to your recommendation." I said, "Should I say, I didn't expect
that?" He had to laugh.
I said, "There are a lot of applicants. Most don't get hired, or at
least not right away. I don't do the choosing. I should say, you might
have a better chance in this administration, than in some currently
unknown future administration. Some, however DO carry over. They aren't
requiring to know party affiliation, with what you applied for." He
said, "Do Republicans require it?" I said, "So far, they have, where
it's legal, which means appointments. There are many more appointed
positions than most people are aware of. My opinion is known about
changing personnel solely for party affiliation, if they're doing a
good job. That's not efficient government." He said, "A lot of people
are wrong about you, about this." I said, "That's because they want to
be. People who know the truth the most, are least likely to share it,
as you now know." He said, "I do know, and that's very frustrating." I
said, "That's just another word for life."" He grinned, an said, "So
true. I affirm my application, and as you recommend." I said, "I'm
making an unusual request. I want to share this session with my people.
They should love you as I do. I think you'll like that. And it will be
therapeutic. You know they won't spread it. All psychologists." He
cried. We hugged. He said, "You have my permission." I said, "Never
forget, I will always love you."
I did share it, and Hawk said, "That was different! Thank you for
sharing it. And for thinking of me with that joke. You were right. I
love him." We shared love.
