1950's. Stephen wrote about his life in letters to a penpal, and then
in a secure blog, in case he lost his memory again, in the master
computer in his school for gifted students, which he started attending
in 2016 in a new incarnation, until his death. Now his son Solomon is
attending the same school, and is writing in his own secure blog for
his future incarnations.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
Solomon is 35 in this story, in the Summer of 2061.

go home for the school vacation?" He said, "I don't like it there!" I
said, "I did understand that part. I don't like it there, either."
Grins. I said, "There are two issues in that. First is, if we only did
things we like, we would all be fat and stuck to our beds. And whoever
was with us." He had to laugh. I said, "And the other issue is, your
parents created you. You owe them some respect for that, and there is
this. What if they make noise about this in public? You would have to
be expelled then." He said, "I sure don't want that!" I said, "Your
people still haven't gotten used to being real people. It's not
something you can understand. They've lived for many thousands of years
as unchanging unfeeling badasses." He laughed. I said, "Got George to
laugh." Grins.
I said, "Now they have different bodies and different brains, and
they're slowly learning to be people again, but all those past memories
aren't going away. That's causing a lot of resistance to the change,
and some very odd emotional problems. In all that time, they never had
children. It's no big surprise they don't know how to be parents. A
little secret. Hardly anybody does, even those who aren't Newvin. They
learn along the way. But your parents' generation has a unique problem.
They know they're going to die. They were immortal before. This new
thing about dying has got them all mixed up. And angry. Having children
provides some continuance, and helps with that. Yes, YOU can help your
parents to accept their future, because you actually ARE that, by just
being you. But that won't work if you're not with them."
He said, "It's like a duty." I said, "It is. But it will only be
useful, if you don't hate it. And that's another issue. Your feelings
about this are interfering with your advancement a little. That's not a
good thing for you." He said, "Oh. I didn't think of that." I said, "If
you go, don't expect to be alone much. The Newvins who can port, will
know about you, and visit often. Probably to get away from their own
parents." Grins. I said, "And they're older and more powerful. Your
parents will have to respect them, even if they don't understand why."
He said, "I didn't know it was going to be so interesting! I'll go." I
said, "Interesting is a matter of attitude. Absolutely anything is
interesting, if we want it to be. Even that. Well, some people collect
bad smells." He had to laugh. I said, "You can come back here for
special events, such as games and some sleepovers. This porting thing
is a little convenient." Grins and a hug.
I said to George, "He was just a little nervous." He said, "Now it's
an adventure. Good job! Still, you pointed out a real problem, and it's
getting worse." I said, "I'll do the next broadcast, and add some Ki
enhancement. I'll warn our students there to shield themselves." He
said, "Too bad you can't do it here." I said, "Dad did it, but if I did
it, it would be noticed. And the Boss would probably poke His nose he
doesn't have, in it." Grins. We felt a touch. Bigger grins.
I said to Yanner, "I'll do the broadcast this time." He said,
"Something special?" I said, "Ki to rest some unrest. Developing
emotional problems among the turned." He said, "Good! We should
shield?" I said, "Yes, that would be best." He said, "I'll pass the
word. There are some tech and industrial problems." I said, "Push." He
did, and I said, "Going to cause some notice." He grinned, and said,
"What are you going to do?" I said, "Safety posters, and warnings on
the equipment. More on their internet. Engineering fixes most won't
notice. No, don't do that. You can monitor me, but not the world until
after. Viewpoint interference could cause problems." He said, "I'll
keep your proposed mods to myself, then." Nods and a hug.
I did the broadcast and God did the healing, and left, with a private
message of approval, and a comment about noses. I used my extended Ki
to calm the people's fears about death, and their other anxieties. Then
I put the safety posters on walls and doors, and fixed a lot of
industrial things. I ended the love broadcast, and watched. Some
posters were noticed immediately, and with some smiles. I had tried to
make them a little humorous where I could. The leader asked Yanner what
happened, and he said, "Solomon did that broadcast. He had some
concerns about industrial safety, and addressed that his unique way."
Grins. People were more peaceful, and smiled more. That was noticed.
Leader asked Yanner about that, who said, "Sol's love is much stronger
than the rest of us. The effects of that lasts longer. Not complaining,
are you?" Leader said, "Not in the least! Will he do it again?" Yanner
said, "I don't know. We'll just have to wait and see." I got a lot of
hugs and kisses from the Newvin Guardians. It wasn't bad.
I said to an Originator, "This is a first for me." The very
embarrassed Originator said, "I can well believe that. I assume you're
here to help." I said, "I am, but not if you intend to make this a
habit." She said, "I will NOT do this again!" I said, "That statement
is unsupported by the fact that you don't know why you did it." She was
even more embarrassed. She said, "Communication was enhanced that way."
I said, "But you didn't have to swallow your stone!" She said, "True.
It must have been some kind of reflex." I said, "Which can be avoided
by not putting it anywhere near your mouth again." She sighed, and
said, "I understand." I said, "If you want enhanced communication, have
a conference with your friends. Stones close together in a group are
better able to communicate with the bonded. Here it is, and cleaned."
She said, "Thank you! But how did you do that?" I said, "I can tell
you, very carefully!" Grins. I shifted out.
I shifted to an Originator ship in FTL string drive. I said to the
helmsman, "You need to change course. Please ask your Captain to meet
with me." He did that, still staring at me. I said, "Your eyes may feel
better if you blink." Some of the bridge crew chuckled. The Captain
arrived. I said, "I'm Solomon. Your course to another galaxy needs to
be modified. There is a rogue black hole in your path you might want to
avoid." He said, "That's very unusual." I said, "I don't think it cares
about that." Some of the crew chuckled. I said to the Captain, "They've
been er, exposed a little more to my odd humor." He accepted that with
a nod, and said, "How do you know this?" I said, "I can try to explain
that, but you would have problems understanding and accepting it. Let
your stone tell you if I am able to." He said, "It did, but won't tell
me more."
I said, "Good. They're learning." That surprised all of them a lot
more. I said, "Course correction information is in your computer in the
file named, 'Don't Die'. I hope you pay attention to the choice of file
names." He said, "Will it delay us?" I said, "A little, yes, but not as
much as dying would." He had to smile at that. He said, "We need to be
there at the set time. I won't change course." I said, "There are very
few things that can destroy a stone. You're heading to one of them.
Listen to them. I am unable to lie." He said, "It agrees with you, but
we can't be late." I said, "Then you won't arrive. I will stay with
you, for your comfort." He said, "If it happens, you will die with us."
I said, "I am unable to die. Try to think a little. How am I here in a
string drive ship in intergalactic space?"
He said, "Oh! You have special powers. Are you able to make the ship
change course without my order?" I said, "I am, but I won't.
Originators who die on an assignment, usually SHOULD die. That's one
convenient way to leave God's service, who disobey. A little wasteful,
though." Their stones were pleading with them. He said, "Can you
provide some proof of this?" I said, "I can, but I won't." He was in an
agony of indecision. His crew were linked to his mind, and were
pleading with him to do it. I said, "Are your crewmembers wiser than
you?" He said, "How were you aware of our communications?" I said, "If
you could understand, you wouldn't need to ask." He relented, and told
the helmsman to initiate the new course sequence. I said, "Hold! It's
too late to save you."
He said, "We'll all die?" I said, "Not if you step down from the
string drive." He said, "Then we will be stranded." I said, "If you do
that, I will transport you to your destination almost instantly." He
said, "If you can do that, can't you do that while we're in string
drive?" I said, "I can, but it would disrupt this dimension. I could
repair it, but that would bring the ship back to where it was. You
don't have much time to do this usefully." He ordered it. Soon, after a
series of very odd feelings, we were in normal space. He received a God
package. He was VERY surprised. He said to his FO, "God has required
that I give up my command. It's yours now." He left.
I said to the new Captain, "Do you understand string drive enough to
know something about his question?" He said, "I do. We attach to space
strain lines and travel along them. If you would force our removal from
that, the backlash, well, you're correct. Our dimension would be
damaged." I said, "His question delay almost caused your destruction.
THAT'S why he was relieved from command. And his failure to recognize
my ability, revealed by my being here. Ready to be transported? If you
He said me, "Sir, who are you, really?" I said, "I am the Senior Agent
of God, for all time and dimensions. He likes to use me to test his
people while I'm helping them. Your stones are confirming." They were
very surprised, and in awe.
I shifted out. I said to their stones, "Thank you for your
assistance." Captain's stone said, "It was a great honor to serve!
Would you really have let all die?" I grinned in their minds, and said,
"That's not a useful question." It said, "You won't tell us?" I said,
"How can I say anything about what you didn't experience?" He said,
"But if it did?" I said, "Do you have any idea what would happen if a
string drive ship approaches a black hole close enough to interact with
it?" He said, "No." I said, "Resonance along the lines? Dark matter
becoming disorganized? Dark energy going wild? The dimension would
become too unstable to exist." It said, "Oh! So you wouldn't let that
happen." I said with a big grin in their minds, "Would you know if I
did, and how many times?" It said, "This is confusing! Can you repair
dimensions?" I said, "I've done it before. All had died in it. Stones
didn't remember any of it. What happened and didn't happen, are not
valid states in such a situation. Remember, time is part of a
dimension." It said, "I'm not able to understand even a little of what
you're trying to express about this. We can only know what we
experience. As we are aware, it didn't happen. Asking you more than
that, I see is not helpful." I said, "Yes, now you know. Better to be
satisfied with my original explanations, then be confused to
frustration." Some humor was expressed.
They reported that to their king stone, who asked to have a meeting
with me. He said, "Now I know what happened in the dimension where all
the stones in it stopped communicating." I grinned, and said, "No you
don't." He said, "Please explain." I said, "You assume the dimension
was damaged, but you don't actually know what happened." He said, "I am
corrected." My big stone there tried to conceal his feeling of humor.
Unsuccessfully. He said, "Happened to me a lot." King said, "What did
dimension actually become damaged?" I said, "You remember how those
stones were, with my attempt at explaining it. Are you sure you want to
go this route?" He said, "No, but I still ask."
I said, "I was informed of the problem by the dimension being
damaged, and needing to be repaired. I did that three times, before the
desired outcome happened. Does almost knowing this actually help you
any?" He said, "It doesn't. I should have allowed your wisdom to rule
me." I said with a grin, "You know that won't happen." They laughed.
I said to the Boss, "That cluster of damaged dimensions. I think I'm
ready now. Want any changes?" He pushed a lot of info at me. I said,
"Wow! That's going to be VERY interesting!" Big grins. We discussed it
some more. I set to work. There were four dimensions in that cluster.
One was in the middle of the other three, and inaccessible. The outer
dimensions were touched by others only a little, so I had a lot less
space to work through. That's a very inaccurate description, but
there's no language for this. So, I had to repair one dimension at a
time, but not through a lot of it, severely limiting my access to it. I
took one, and rebuilt the main space strain strings, propping them in
place, with with temporary string braces. Then I arranged the dark
matter in the pattern it had before, that I learned from gestalt time
diving, then the dark energy. Then I released the braces, and
configured the normal matter and energy, including the placement of the
black holes, in their particular patterns. All of that was there, but
was disorganized. I fixed that. At the same time, I was straightening
out the timeline, and choosing a spot on it to be the present. In
fixating that, I made all our planned changes. Then it was done. I kept
a watch on that, while I worked on the other dimensions. Each one was
easier than the last, due to more access to it, and more practice. The
one in the middle was so easy by then, I did it almost instantly.
I added those dimensions to the stone's database. King stone noticed
that, and said to me, "How did this happen? Four new dimensions?" I
said, "They're not new. Just not in the database before." He said, "You
did something." I said, "When haven't I?" He said, "True. Stones there
don't know anything out of the ordinary." I said, "Good. I'll change
that later." He said with a grin, "I'm sure you will!"
I called for an Earth Guardian conference. I said, "I've located some
dimensions were there are some school candidates that are like S Kids
in abilities." George said, "Are they compatible with our schools?" I
said, "Very. Here's a picture." He looked like a red headed human
caucasian. Galya said, "Genetics?" I said, "More compatible than Rang.
I made sure of that." They stared at me. I said, "Er, oops?" Pokes.
Ivanna said, "SOME dimensions?" I said, "Four." Daren said, "In our
database?" I said, "Just added." He said, "Just discovered?" I said, "A
little, yes." Galya said, "Wait! Is Harahm going to be able to port
dimensionally?" I said, "Yes." She said, "Did he come from one of those
dimensions?" I said, "No. They didn't actually completely kind of exist
usefully then." Hawk said, "We're being played." Ichi said, "You just
noticed?" Grins.
I said, "George, don't think that." Laughter. He said, "Am I right?"
I said, "Partly, a little." He said, "That's even more frustrating!
Who?" I said, "God's orders. Er, after I asked to help." Daren said,
"Upgrade?" I said, "In knowledge and technique, only. Practice helped."
They demanded I tell them what happened. I did, and they had a lot of
wows to give for it. Daren said, "We'll start exploring right way.
Please push some coordinates of the best er, places." I did that, and
to George as well. George said, "We're going recruiting!" Ivanna said,
"For here?" I said, "Yes. All dimensional porting people who look like
us, come here. Absolutely, if they're fertile with us. Genetic
diversity, here we er, come!" Grins and chuckles.
