When I and a certain other person here whom I will not name (Doc) went
to see Libera in Atlanta back in 2010, we were going through the line
to meet and get autographs from the boys. Personally, I was very
tongue-tied -- so many things I wanted to say and many of them that I
knew I shouldn't! But there was a guy in front of me who was not so
tongue-tied (and to be honest, he said quite a few things he should
not have said), but the boys asked him which of the songs that they
had performed that night had been his favorite. He said something to
the effect of ... that's like asking what your favorite flavor of ice
cream is -- whatever flavor you get, hey! It's ICE CREAM! Now,
admitting that it's entirely possible that he's never tried some of
the more esoteric flavors of ice cream that are now available (and the
first of those that I would like to try is Wasabi!), I thought that
was a great answer and told him -- and the boys -- that I thought it
was a great answer. Unfortunately, once I opened my mouth, I had
difficulty shutting it, especially since I found myself directly in
front of the irrepressible Kavanna Crossley whom I had been absolutely
taken with because of the sheer effort he put into singing. I swear,
at times he must have bent over double to taking in enough air to
sing. While I prolly made myself seem quite silly, Kavanna was very
gracious, and I came away with stars in my eyes.
[Fortunately, I did not embarrass myself as much as the guy in front
of me who told the kids repeatedly that they would be going to Disney
World (they didn't) and basically made Joshua Modine feel like he (the
guy) had been stalking Josh for years! People really need to be a
little more careful when they speak to kids, although Josh was nearly
17, but then, that just meant that he had more knowledge about that
kind of thing. And it was also a case of bad timing.]
Love,
Steve
PS: FTR: NO! The guy directly in front of me was not DOC! He has far
too much sense, though I happen to know that he came away feeling like
he had made some little connections, too!
PSS: Does anyone know the next time they're coming to the US? I don't
have a car anymore, so look for the guy with his thumb out and the
Libera or Bust sign!!
