So, do I understand that these pictures are from the Soviet Union in
the 50s? Could you (or anyone) say anything more about that? For
instance, is this kind of naturalistic photography part of an older
Russian tradition, or was it a specifically Soviet-era thing? Is it
culture or FKK) movement, which has roots going back to the late
19th/early 20th century Lebensreform (life reform) movement?
Also there is a long established German tradition (and maybe a parallel
Russian one?) of celebrating young male beauty, as evidenced by the
openly gay magazine Der Eigene which began publishing -- in the 1890s!
-- nude photography, homoerotic prose and poetry, and a dose of heavy
philosophizing and pontificating to make the whole thing seem serious
and Good For You.
I'm very curious about whether such a tradition also existed -- and
still exists -- in Russia.
