A sad commentary on the times, certainly, particularly when I take
time to peruse the daily news. Pictures of boys, always a smiling
school portrait, stare up at me, concealing the horrible circumstances
detailed in the article.
A boy is kept prisoner in a dark closet for a year, his only parental
attention being regular beatings and paltry foods. I would have loved
that boy, cuddle and nuture him, that he might never want for any
comfort. But alas! I am judged far worse than his parents!
A boy of a well-to-do family is kidnapped, terrorised and abused by
his captors ... a small finger sent to his mother to encourage her to
pay. I would have taken this boy, and protected him from any harm or
hazard the world could present. He would be safe in my embrace. But
alas! I am judged more debased and evil than the kidnappe and
mutilator!
A boy steps off the school bus and walks home along the busy streets
... for the first time ... and is drawn into an alley by a friendly
and perhaps known face, with promises of special treats. He is
tortured and murdered, and his body butchered. I, if God so gave me
this miracle, would have rescued this poor lad, and kept him ever to
my breast in love and affection, guarding him jealously from the evils
so prevalent in our world, even to the point of utterly destroying
anyone who might harm him. But alas! I am villified as a creature
more hateful, cruel, and perverse than the child murderer!
And so are the times, where cruelty and murder can be seen as
preferable to the tender affections of a Boylover!
Thoughts for a late night.
Sincerely,
