I was at my mother's house earlier having some lunch before I mowed
her lawn and we had the LLWS game on between Chinese Taipei and Aruba.
It was the top of the 3rd inning when we turned on the game and the
score was already 16 - 0 in favor of Chinese Taipei. Team Aruba was
pitching and the Chinese team was batting like a bunch of pros playing
against a middle school team. More runs were scored, and if I'm not
mistaken, the score going into the bottom of the 3rd was 18 to 0. The
cameramen kept focusing on one of the outfielders from the Aruba team,
and by the top of the 4th inning, he was a featured star of the game -
no, not for his fielding skills, but for his exuberant dancing. At one
point, with the score a whopping 20 to 0, this little fellow was
dancing his heart out in the outfield. Despite the lopsided score, the
boys from Aruba seemed to be having the time of their young lives,
which is precisely the idea behind Little League baseball - having
fun.
As one commentator said during one of the regional finals last
weekend, "This is baseball in its purest form." Truer words have never
been spoken.
Hope those of you watching are enjoying it as much as I.

"Well, can't he just beam up?"
"This is *reality* Greg."
