No, I am quite certain that the subject of the portrait is not the
Czar's son.
You make a very good point regarding the nurse telling of her service,
as it were, to the boy. I do agree with you regarding that, providing
the story is accurate. I believe people in such circumstances tell
for one of two reasons: to brag or to reassure themselves. In
reflecting how present society utterly condemns such acts, she may
very well have needed reassurance.
