As I recall, she offered to come up and chaperone for the
brief times that I was (would have been) with Mike between my
multi-day job interviews [the reason why I was in Seattle from
the other coast, in the first place] and his parental, filial,
and professional duties. I suppose she could have stayed with me
in the second bed in my hotel room in Redmond, WA on the other side
of the lake from Ballard; she would have liked walking with me to
the bookstores [where I heard Pearl Django play]; seeing a movie --
Erin Brockavitch, iirc; shopping at the mondo-Eddie Bauer and REI,
having a meal at the country French place for dinner; reading books
before bedtime or taking a hot soak in the tub; having a nice breakfast
at the local pancake place; and going to the airport in the shuttle.
As to your comment to Davey .. of course, he suspects it; after all,
it's what he knew when he was an accomplished philanderer and keeper
of mistresses and whores before Yelena reformed him. I'm certain that
everyone who was there and read this group those few times that Mike
and I have been in the same location are as amused by his claims as
I am. It is kind of pitiable, really; that Davey has nothing better
to do with his imagination than make up impossible assignations
between people he now dislikes.
