: Not so much the help but the fact they need it.

That is the one powerful truth arising from any calamity: you cannot stand
alone, no matter who you are. No matter how powerful you are, capable,
wise, etc. Anyone can be taken down regardless of these things. In truth,
worldly power is an illusion: you don't posess it, as much as you like to
think you do. There is always something greater than your power.
As for judgment against the US, didn't Jesus say hat judgment was already
in the world? (John 3:19) Considering that there have been a number of
natural disasters lately, ie Isobel, Andrew, fires, the '98 Ice Storm
(which mainly affected eastern Canada, but still hit the US), it seems to
me that California's recognition of same-sex marriages is just a blip on
the radar when it comes to Western Society in general abandoning it's
belief in God. I'm specifically about the court case in 1963? about
banning prayer in classrooms. Regarding that though, as long as they have
exams in schools, there will be prayer, foxhole type prayer perhaps, but
prayer nonetheless. :)
