What does scientific inquiry have to do with coming to God?

You're right that science can't answer questions about purpose.  Origins, on
the other hand, are certainly in the realm of science.  Specific theories
can be falsified and evidence can be gathered.

You'd be surprised.  Thoughts and emotions have signatures in brain activity
which can be interpreted.
