This is actually not an uncommon creationist work-around.  It appears
to have been made up shortly after fossils first became commonly
known. The major competing theories of that era, "Satan did it to be
deceptive" and "Rock just does that sometimes, doesn't mean these were
really alive" have not aged nearly as well. But an examination of the
fossils themselves -- not just bones but tracks, burrows, fossil
pollen, etc -- makes that comforting theory impossible.

I never did get an answer to my previous question. If your faith means
never, ever changing your interpretation of Genesis regardless of any
possible evidence, how is that different from fanaticism?
