Just do it if you want to, if not don't. No duress.
We Evangelicals are not into pressure-selling.

That's up to you.

I have only sources which are readily available in any bookstore.

The truth is more valid than lies, obviously I think I believe the truth, or
I wouldn't believe it, but this is faith, not knowledge in the way you
believe knowledge is acquired.
If someone else is seeking the truth, and has a version of the truth which
is mutually exclusive to mine, then clearly one is wrong and the other
either right or also wrong, and we don't know for sure until we die, in
which case if the atheist version is true, I won't know about it anyway.
(You have said you are not an atheist, but I am just giving that as an
example.)
Nevertheless, because we cannot know for sure, and live by faith, we ought
also to respect other views, but in the interests of arriving at a better
defined world view it is right to argue and debate our views in a respectful
way.
I can't convert anybody here, I can put what I see to be the truth out there
and field objections and questions. If my view of the truth is correct,
which says that God uses what we say sometimes to bring in his own elect,
then if he has someone here he wants to call, he can use what we say to his
own purposes. But I cannot, have never, and never will convert anyone by the
force of argument.

Because it is not less valid either.
People validate their beliefs by stating them and comparing them to other
people's. Why should I not do that, the same as everyone else?

Good. I'm glad you are. So you should be.
I am much less holier than thou art.
And I am very happy to let the Bible speak on behalf of God

Well, that may well be an American phenomenon, but it doesn't apply in
Europe, and you are speaking to a European.
Do I write like a silly, stupid, uneducated, medieval, backwards,
simple-minded and pig-ignorant person?
I don't believe that I have said anything that deserves that statement,
whereas your knee jerk reaction, and your 'what gives you the right' riff
which is kinda out of place on Usenet generally, make your neck look a good
deal redder than mine does, at this juncture.

Well, I didn't say that, I just explained that I started having doubts about
evolution as a youth before I had any Christian influences at all.
I am not sure how that constitutes claiming to speak for God, and I think
you have shown me a bouquet of assorted prejudices and all that is yours is
the string that ties them together.

That's what you think of me, but that is not borne out by the facts.
So, what book are you reading at the moment?
Go on, astonish me.
