First of all, forget Windows Media Player for all media files other
than WMVs and RMs. Use QuickTIme Player instead. What you need
to learn how to do is to join the movie segments into the full movie
which will then be playable with QT Player. For a start check out the
following program. Its somewhat outdated but still works well and
is due for an update sometime in the future. Its documentation alone
may help to give you some insight into the segment joining process.

You may also prefer Split & Concat (see Versiontracker) to do the
join but this is a "pay-me" program that never ceases to remind
you that you have not paid. Once you get up to speed you will certainly
want to check out MacParDeluxe to do par and par2 error processing
(again see Versiontracker). Another good move would be to switch
to using Thoth instead of MT Newswatcher since Thoth handles binaries
far better than any other Mac newsreader. It is no longer available
but you can always find copies of Thoth and all other Mac software
of interest in the newsgroup a.b.mac.applications. First take a look at
the various "How To View The Files" FAQs in this and other similar
newsgroups for a general overview of the process and when they
start talking about specific programs for Wintel boxes just retain
the overall process and use the Mac programs instead. Enjoy.
