Thanks Cosmos for the Johnie scans. It's just incredible what Johnie did for
the genre. I'm not sure if anyone ever wore out a set of bearings on a
scanner before, but if only one person did, it would have been Johnie. In
the world of pictures, there is a major dividing line. Sort of a BD and AD.
Before Digital and After Digital and I am not sure the younger people and a
lot of the older people who are technotards understand that because of
Johnie, we are able to view many of the important works of photographers of
boys from the BD past because Johnie bridged the gap between the BD's and
the AD's with his scanner. It is a mind boggling amount of work that he did
(and freely shared) and I suppose lucky for him, he didn't choose instead,
to digitize all the important works of musical recordings from the past. I
just couldn't imagine playing a wax cylinder of a musical recording while
having the hand-wound player connected to a computer.
So, thanks to you Cosmos for posting and thanks also to the de-facto head
librarian of Johnie's stuff, Movie Watcher for the info post and thanks also
to Johnie. It is important to realize that I am not alone in this present
day universe in my appreciation of boys. It is also important to know that
we are not alone historically in this appreciation. We know this because of
the connection to the past that Johnie Proudly Presented. What a nice gift!
