Oh, my golly gosh! What unimagined felicity greets me here after such
a day as I have been through, frantically running for cover, dodging
from bush to bush from them as wish me mischief. I was beginning to
feel like poor, hunted Ralph at the end of "Lord of the Flies" as he
collapsed in exhaustion on the beach waiting his inevitable end.
Then, as luck would have it, several of the numerous friends that I am
constantly IM-ing with told me about this secret group, where I was
wont to play as a child & said I might find solace awaiting me from an
old school buddy of mine.
But it exceeds my expectations. What an amazing picture. Oh, yes, I
remember the place only too well. The rusty corrugated iron walls in
the background behind which I huddled for warmth night after night in
the cruel winter-time, when the deadly air-raid sirens wailed.
But my word! Haven't the cacti done well. I only threw the packet of
seeds outside cos I thought they were duff. You never know how such
thoughtless acts conceived in childhood despondency can suddenly be
turned to gold in our Autumn years by the kindly spirits that watch
over us.. The nuns were right after all. For look how strong & sturdy
& upright & bristly & protective the cacti have become, & how they
encircle me, pressing in close their prickly barbs at the ready, like
creatures from an alien but friendly planet shielding me, even as I
urinate.
Oh, shut it Mephi,.... you promised never to write late at night when
the wine had taken hold of you.........Wot, not even to Cos~mos when
the both of us as have been so roughly brought up by 'and?
Best stop here then.....but fanks for the spessshal pictcher. It's a
keeper.
