Solomon's Private File #319
These stories about Stephen and Solomon take place starting in
1950's. Stephen wrote about his life in letters to a penpal, and then
in a secure blog, in case he lost his memory again, in the master
computer in his school for gifted students, which he started attending
in 2016 in a new incarnation, until his death. Now his son Solomon is
attending the same school, and is writing in his own secure blog for
his future incarnations.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
Solomon is 30 in this story, in the Spring of 2056.
Solomon's Private File #319 "A Scrying Shame"
START Page
I said to a woman who was looking at and through the spilled
intestines of a man, "Why are you doing that?" The intestines were on
the stone floor of a big room, sliced open. The man had his abdomen
sliced open, too, but was still alive, having problems breathing. She
jumped, and turned around. She said, "You surprised me!" I said, "I
did, yes. So, why are you doing that?" She said, "I'm scrying. It's how
I predict the future." I said, "How accurate are you, usually?" She
said, "Very." The man on the floor, gasped, "She's lying! I'm better at
this than she is. She's already made some bad predictions, and from my
own intestines!" I nodded, "Thank you, but I don't need assistance to
know when I'm being lied to." I said to the woman, "How do you choose
your er, victims?" She said, "Those with the best scrying talent, make
the best source for the most important questions, but we also use
animals for ordinary things." I said to the man, "Is it like that for
you, too?" He tried to answer, but couldn't. I said, "I require an
answer. A moment please, while I make that able to happen." His
intestines moved back into his body, and I healed him. He was still in
chains when he woke up.
I said to him, "I asked you a question, and you were unable to
answer. Now that you are, do you also prefer to use other scryers for
your source er, material?" He said, "Thank you for the healing. Yes, we
all do it." I said, "Do any of them survive it?" He said, "They don't."
I said, "Risky occupation you're in." He said, "True. Very true. We
usually work for despotic rulers. Too many wrong predictions, we lose
our heads." I said, "They hide them?" He laughed, and said, "I don't
know. We aren't alive after we part with them." I said, "Then why do
you do this?" He said, "We are tested as children. Those with the
talent are sent to special schools, and we belong to rulers then." I
said, "Uncertain rulers, it seems." He said, "Yes. We are to make that
less." I said, "Knowing people, I would think that would be
impossible." The woman said, "That's so!"
I said, "This is most unusual. There are other, better, ways to
access and use your special talents. This is wasteful!" He said, "And I
have to say, now that I've experienced it, quite painful. Pardon me,
sir, but I'm filled with unusual questions. Who are you? How have you
come to be here? How did you heal me?" I said, "Would you consider
asking questions that are easier to answer?" They grinned. He said,
"That unusual?" I said, "Yes. Simple answers would cause many more
questions. How I came to be here is by desire. I wanted to, and so here
I am. Instantly. Who I am, is who I am. My name is Solomon. How I
healed you, is from another desire. Yes, there are more complicated
things in these actions, but they wouldn't be understandable to you, if
you couldn't already do them." She said, "Other people can do those
things?" I said, "Yes, with varying degrees of skill. Both of you, with
some knowledge and training, can learn to heal minor injuries. Instant
transportation requires high intelligence and special aptitude, with
intensive training starting in childhood."
He said, "Do you have a school?" I said, "Yes. Many schools. There
are many worlds and many universes." He said, "You do not always look
like you do now?" I said, "Correct. I build each new body I use, to
work well with the task in progress." She said, "Would any of those
from our scryer schools, qualify for your schools?" I said, "Yes, some
would." She said, "Far away from danger?" I said, "So far, you would
not believe possible." They grinned. He said, "Are any of our people in
them now?" I said, "They are not. How can I convince them to go, who
would not believe how bad their lives would be, if they stayed?" He
said, "That would be a problem. If only we could tell them." I said,
"What if they were to see moving images of what has happened here
today?" He grinned and said, "My unvoiced question regarding why you
are here, is being answered." She said, "It would be better if we were
physically there for that." I said with a smile, "Yes, I know that.
This situation, in general, is not new to me." He said, "Are you a
God?" I said, "As you understand things, yes. As I understand, and have
been told, I am the Senior Agent of the Creator of All. To me, I'm just
Solomon, the overworked but willing servant for good." She said, "We
are that important to Her?" I said, "Eh, not so much. The body I made
here for this, is one of many millions I am using at the same time." He
said, "In my limited understanding, a God you are!" I said, "Labels are
not reality."
The chains fell off of him, and he stood. Then they were both dressed
in fine clothes, looking almost like Earth humans. I said, "Not all can
come to my schools. However, there is a land on this world, where the
people there do not do scrying. Part of that very good land is empty,
waiting for good people to occupy it. The children, should they want to
go there, will need adults to help them." She said with a smile, "You
who know all, know we will join them." I said, "But I have to ask. I
don't force people who are not harming others unjustly." He said, "The
other nations of the world that use Scryers?" I said, "We will visit
all the special schools, if you agree." They looked at each other, and
said, "We agree!" I said with a grin, "I knew that." More grins in
return. I said, "I will be doing some unusual things in support of our
efforts. We will not be seen by those who shouldn't see us. Where there
is not enough undisturbed time, I will make it. I will make homes in
the new land, and tools and other things to start a good life. There
will be a lack of necessary skills to support that life. There will be
unusual ways to change that. No, I would rather surprise you."
He said, "You know what we are thinking?" I said, "I know all of this
world. All worlds I visit. That includes all on and in it, good and
bad." They nodded. He said, "Yes, a God!" I said, "Would you stop that
if I tell you it annoys me?" He looked very conflicted. I said,
"Unusual feelings you're having. I'm known to cause that. Often."
Smiles and nods. I said, "There is something we should do. When the
children come to know me, they will want to know if we have done this.
You will know why." I opened my arms, and they came into my hugs. I
helped them to sit. She said, "Such love!" He said, "You have to be a,
er, good person!" I tried not to grin, which they noticed, and bowed,
and said, "Thank you." They had to smile.
I ported us to a school. The room was full of children ten and over.
I said, "They can't see us. These are all the children in the school.
Of them, two qualify for my school. When I transport those who want to
leave here, the two may not be with them at the new home. If they
refuse to go to my school, they will be sent to the new home, or
returned here. I see the question. I can be very persuasive where life
and death is in the balance. You will feel some of that." They nodded.
I said, "When I drop my hand, they will be able to see us." I did, and
some children jumped. The rest just stared at is. I said to those with
me, "Hmm, I was hoping for a little more surprise from them." Man said,
"You could make a funny face at them." I said, "Eh, not that much
surprise." Some of the kids giggled.
I said, "We have some things to tell you. Better than that, I can
show you us discussing it, that we did before, in moving images. I have
to warn you, there is something bad to see, but you would be required
to actually do it before you graduate from this school, so you should
see it for real, now. You older children, please hold the younger ones.
You know." They nodded, and did that. I projected the discussion, with
Ki going, programmed to encourage them to pay attention and agree with
us, but not at command level. Some were shocked at the injury, and the
reason for it, but understood the explanation. By the end, they were
feeling a lot in awe of me. One boy, a twelve year old, said, "I don't
believe it! They wouldn't do that!" I looked at the oldest girl, and
she said, "It's true. Jorfa told me. The graduating class has to choose
one of their own to scry. It was her best friend!" She cried. I went to
hug her. She stopped, and I let go, and she said, "You have to hug
everybody!" I said, "I had planned to. You know I have to share my
love." She said, "Yes!" A girl said, "I won't be able to see my
parents!" I said, "That has been true since you've been here. There is
no going back. But, I'm going to be talking to some parents. Some
interesting things might happen. I can't promise anything, because
people need to choose without force."
An older boy said, "Can you force people?" I said, "I have the
ability to, many abilities, but I can't have the desire to, unless the
people are harming others unjustly. Even then, I must go against my
desires, and do what I am required to do. My superior is rather strict.
People who hurt others, must learn not to do that." One said with
interest, "How do you teach them?" I said, "A very good question. As a
teacher, I like that very much. How they learn, is by feeling what
their victims felt. They REALLY don't like that." Chuckles. I said,
"For VERY bad people, I make them feel it five minutes every hour, as
long as they live, and forbid them to kill themselves. They usually
have to live alone, away from people. Well, their screams are rather
disturbing." Some said, "Wow!" I said, "I hear that a lot." Chuckles.
One said, "I can feel your love." Another said, "I can feel you are
saying the truth." The man and woman nodded in agreement.
One of the younger ones wanted to hug me. We did it, and he almost
fainted. I motioned to the girl I had hugged, and she knew that to do.
She led the boy away, and the others came to me one by one. Then I
said, "Those who wish to stay here, move over there." They didn't." I
said to my friends, "Smart people." Grins. I said, "Please all stand."
They vanished. I said to my assistants, "They are being held in a place
where there is no time. This is so they can all arrive together, from
all the schools." Man said, "Oh! Good idea. I should have thought of
the lack of supervision of them being there without us." I said,
"That's alright. I've had more practice." Smile of gratitude. We did
the same in the other schools. Then I ported some other scryers to join
us, and said to my assistants, "These people are now FORMER scryers,
like yourselves, who want a new life." They greeted each other with
hugs.
I said, "Now I'll tell you more. Those school buildings will vanish.
The teachers there are going to look a little odd, just standing
there." Chuckles. I said, "Those who still want to do scrying, are
going to feel what their victims feel. Could be a life changing
experience. Oh, and the people who order it, will feel it, too." Hard
grins. I said, "Now we need to talk with the parents of the students,
and ask them if they want to join their children." Woman said, "Oh! I
should have thought of that!" I said, "Not really. It's my job, not
yours." We did that, and many did want to join their children, enough
to make a self sustaining community. They were more eager, when I told
them they would have copies of their houses, a little improved. And
their business, if they had them.
I made the homes, and businesses and their supplies, including farms
and livestock, which I transported. Then I ported the parents there,
and the former scryers, some of whom needed new homes. Then we all had
a meeting. I said, "The former scryers have no work, but they are very
educated in many things. They should share that. The new school should
teach good things. Reading, and numbers, and how to be good and honest
people." They agreed. I said, "Some of the children I'm bringing here,
have no parents, or have parents who didn't want to come here. You know
what should happen." They did, with tears. They went to their homes to
await the children. I went to some of them, and told them about my
school. Some wanted their children to go, more than others did, but all
agreed to it. Then I told them about mindtalk, and the instant
transportation, and they felt much better about it, and we hugged. I
said, "There will still be children for you to love and care for here.
Those who ask about those who have gone, you can tell them they went to
a special school, and will come back in less than a year to visit. I
think you might like that time a little." Grins.
I ported the children to the school house, and they were surprised. I
said to my assistants, "They're surprised! Good, I like that."
Chuckles. I said to the children, "There are more surprises for you.
Some of your parents are here. Unfortunately, some couldn't be, but
there are are other parents who would love you and take care of you, if
you let them. Oh, and the houses came with the parents. So, go find
them!" They ran out the door, and made lots of of very happy noises.
Those who didn't have parents there, I escorted to their very willing
foster parents. They were all very comfortable, with lots of food and
tools and seeds to plant more, and livestock to make the community self
sustaining. The parents convinced my selected candidates to attend my
school. I ported them from their homes, to the then empty school house.
I said, "Your parents have told you, you are going to learn to become
like me. No, you won't. We are all different. You will learn to become
a better YOU. That will probably include some of the unusual things I
can do. I think you won't be too sad about that." Grins and nods. I
said, "The school you will be going to is so far away, you will have to
learn a lot of things, just to understand the words to talk about it.
That's going to be VERY interesting!" More grins. I said, "Now for some
warnings. There will be other people there, students, who don't look
like you. I mean, REALLY different. From different worlds. I need to
make sure you understand that they are just like you in what's
important. They love, they learn, and they play. You all feel the
feelings of others. So, it has to be that way. I'm going to show you
what they look like. If you want to scream, please do it quietly. I
have sensitive hearing." Smiles. I showed them Rang's students, and
they did feel a little uneasy. I said, "The people with the hard shells
don't like hugging each other. Noisy, actually." Chuckles. I said, "But
they LOVE hugging soft skinned people very much. You can actually feel
that with them. Now the people with the fur. You hug them, you won't
want to let go. The feel of them on your skin, is just fantastic! They
know that, and love to feel your feelings with you. I see some of you
are thinking about that now, and not in a bad way." Grins, some with
embarrassment.
I said, "Like in all places where people live together, there are
rules for how to behave. We who feel what others do, and see all around
us, inside and out, live differently than other people, because of
that. The rules might seem very strange to you, being different, but
we've been doing this for a long time, and DO know what we're doing.
And what YOU are doing." I had to grin at their expressions. I said,
"You will be surprised at what is allowed. Now for something unusual."
Laughter. I said, "Well, yes. They speak a different language there.
With your permission, I will give it do you now. Do you agree?" They
did. I said, "Done. You can understand it now, and speak it, but that
will improve over the next few days. To help you believe that, I've
been speaking it." They said "Wow!" I said, "That word is going to be
very tired, soon." Chuckles.
I said, "The master of your school is Rangnorik. He was my personal
student. One of the most powerful, actually. Anything you need, he will
provide. He's been watching this, so he knows. Ready for transport?"
They all stood, and I ported us to the big hall on Rang's island. They
looked around, and said a lot of wows. I said, "Told you." More smiles.
Rang was there, and gave the welcome speech. Then some of his teachers
came to lead the students to their rooms. Some looked as if they wanted
to hug me farewell, so I motioned to them, and they came to me for
that. Then the rest did. I said, "I visit here sometimes. You aren't
rid of me yet." Grins, with a few tears. Rang said, "The other
first." He grinned, and we hugged. I changed to my usual form. The
other students came in as the very surprised new ones were leaving. I
hugged them, too. Then Rang and I were alone.
He said, "Good that we made the school so big. You're bringing me a
lot of students!" I said, "It all builds together. You are able to take
more, I'm prompted to find more to give you. They're needed. And most
of these would have been killed!" He said with tears, "Yes. You HAD to
bring them here. Thank you!" We hugged and kissed with love.
