Solomon's Private File #212
These stories about Stephen and Solomon take place starting in
1950's. Stephen wrote about his life in letters to a penpal, and then
in a secure blog, in case he lost his memory again, in the master
computer in his school for gifted students, which he started attending
in 2016 in a new incarnation, until his death. Now his son Solomon is
attending the same school, and is writing in his own secure blog for
his future incarnations.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
Solomon is 25 in this story, in the Spring of 2051.
Solomon's Private File #212 "Ranting Candidate"
START Page
My republican Senator friend asked for a meeting. At his home, he
said, "I'm being asked strongly to run for president." I just smiled.
He said, "Your non interference policy is irritating." I said,
"Disapproved Democrats feel that the most." Grins. I said, "My personal
views are like a Chinese menu." He chuckled and said, "Same here,
actually. Conservative personal values, but without lies and
manipulation, with support for those in need. And I couldn't care less
which government does the work." I said, "You shouldn't be telling me
this when you are asking for my approval." He said with a grin, "I knew
that." I said, "I'll announce it when you want, but I recommend that
after the first Dem does it. Oops, forget that." He laughed. He said,
"I agree, if it's as soon as I think I need it. Do you actually care
who wins?" I said, "Of course I do. But that's only about quality and
potential, not party affiliation. What's most important to me is they
and their people don't interfere with me. That will be settled, but the
way of that could cause problems if they resist. Problem is, no
president who wasn't a Vice, has a clue about what we really do for the
government, and how. Blows their minds, even without a handy intern."
He laughed.
I said, "Problem in running for president, is nobody knows how to
actually BE one, until it's dumped on them. Then all bets are off. It's
a crap shoot, and not just because a lot of them are full of it." More
laughter. I said, "If only I could say this in public!" He said, "I
know what you mean. Very frustrating for you, to have that childhood
museum bit be your crowning poke at government.' I said, "Still, not a
bad crown." We chuckled.
Three Democrats asked for my approval, and got it. So did two
republicans, including my friend. Then two more Dems, but only one
passed. That caused a lot of comment, because I listed lack of
intelligence being the most negative, and instability, for the one I
disapproved. I was asked to a show to talk about it. Don said, "Some
presidential candidates haven't asked for your politician approval." I
said, "I noticed that. Why do you think that is?" He grinned and said,
"I won't fall for that again. What are YOUR thoughts on that?" I said,
"Maybe they just haven't had the time?" He said, "Are you trying to be
difficult?" I said, "Is it working?" He laughed. I said, "It could be
that they suspect they would fail. There is a paradox in that. Most who
would fail, wouldn't believe they would." He said, "I see. Fools can't
see their own short comings." I said, "But they sure can see those of
others, which oddly enough, mirror their own, because that's what they
can most recognize in others, not that they can understand why. In
fact, they assume all are like them in those ways. For instance, a
habitual liar KNOWs that all others do the same, even when they don't.
He who lies, cannot see the truth in others." He said, "Wise." I said,
"Not YOU, too!" He laughed. He said, "Take it like a man!" I said, "God
said it differently." He said, "God actually told you something like
that?" I said, "Yes. He said to me one time, 'Take it like a Prophet.'"
He almost strangled. I said, "Don't worry. It's perfectly alright to
laugh at God's humor. Well, He does." He said, "Oh, that's right. Hawk
said that." We went to break.
Back, he said, "Do you have a preference for President?" I said, "It
doesn't work like that for me. For one, it's not my place to say that,
and for two, until they actually become President, nobody can predict
how they will be in it, not even them. Reality rules with a very heavy
hand. And that's just to start. Then there will be unforeseen
challenges, and they can't know how they will deal with them until they
do. And the President isn't alone. He has a team. Any of those can ruin
the whole works. Remember my father and the moon rocks?" He said, "I do
remember! A big scandal." I said, "Most presidents were only as good
and bad as their staff." He said, "But the current president had his
choices approved by you." I said, "And how many scandals and missteps
did they cause?" He said with a smile, "Not much for us to report." I
said, "So the next president should do the same?" I said, "That's not
for me to say. Depends on how much cronyism and influence peddling is
considered more important than having qualified people in government."
He said, "Do you think what you just said will cause them to ask you
for it?" I said, "Not in the least. Once in power, they have the er,
power. Those who care most about that are not going to risk some of
that when they don't have to." He said, "Yet this president did."
I said, "Yes, and that's unusual for either party, because he's the
only one who's ever done that, and he lost some friends and supporters
because of it, who had expected jobs they didn't get. Another good
thing from my point of view is he didn't interfere with what I did that
would have made his power less in the eyes of the public." He said,
"Examples?" I said, "Disasters. I took some of them over completely,
and he didn't make any kind of a fuss over that. Some in his position
would have wanted more credit, but he didn't even try for that." He
said, "If he had resisted what you wanted?" I said, "I can't know what
didn't happen. Speculate on your own, and maybe with some colorful
language." Chuckles. I said, "One thing I DO know. He hired good
people. The head of FEMA, for instance." He said, "You helped to make
him." I said, "Yes I did help him to become who he could be. I couldn't
have, if he hadn't had it in him. That's the key to making good people
better; recognizing potential. With him, it was easy for me to help,
and I'm very proud of him and all he's been able to accomplish, and I
am very privileged to have been of some small assistance in helping
that along. And if that embarrasses him, well, he did it to me. No, I
don't believe in revenge. At least not on purpose." He chuckled. I
said, "If he wants to stay in that position in the next administration,
I would very much support that. The next president would be a fool to
fire him. But if he wants to leave, I would support that, too." Don
said, "Did he just tell you that?" I said, "How did you know?" He
laughed and tried to say, "I didn't!" We went to break.
I refused to look at him, and he laughed. Back from break, Don said,
"Have you influenced other national governments?" I said, "That of the
Navajo Nation, yes, I influenced our government. They asked me to help
with a problem with the youth, and I gave them Navajo dream boxes." He
said, "I've experienced the dream. Nobody should miss that, not just
for the beautiful message, but for the technique that's just amazing!
To be in the animal's mind and KNOW how they live! To feel your own
wings, to feel the emotions of the wolf, to know how and why the horse
lets us ride him, well, that's an experience that can't be beat!" I
said, "Well said. Better than your first opportunity to say that." He
was embarrassed, and said, "Er, thanks. I was in amazed shock then." I
said, "Excused. Hard for me to relate to that, because I lived that in
the past, and those of my school can do it at will. A great way to
learn. We call it mind riding." He said, "Is that what your monitors do
to you?" I said, "They do something like it sometimes. There are a
number of techniques they can use in monitoring. It depends on the
abilities of the monitor and the situation. Some things can interfere
in a mission that involves other Adepts. They might detect it, and from
it, learn to use it against us." He said, "Oh. I didn't think of that.
Thanks." I said, "And in some far out places and dimensions, none of my
people can maintain a connection to me, and so can't monitor me. But
that's not a problem. I'm following God's orders then, and with Him as
a monitor, well, I think you know what I mean."
He said, "I do. Has he ever corrected you?" I said, "No, He's never
corrected me. Quite the embarrassing opposite. He's said I know what He
would do better than anybody ever has. That was after I asked if I had
done as He wanted." He said, "You've actually had conversations with
Him?" I said, "Yes. Short ones. I feel I shouldn't bother Him with
small things." He said, "Are you er, reverent with Him?" I said,
"Interesting question. Groveling would disgust Him. So would false
reverence. I treat Him as my Boss who I love, with full honesty of
feelings, that can also include some irritation at times. Remember, He
sees all of a person. He knows what I feel, even if I don't choose to
express it, so why not be honest about it? And I actually live that way
with my group, so it's already a part of my life. We all feel all of
each other's emotions. We wouldn't think of trying to hide any of
them."
He said, "I don't think I can ever understand how it is to live like
that." I said, "Actually, you DO live like that, mostly unconsciously.
You ignore many of the emotional signals you receive, except from those
you are most close to. I'm not talking about just psionics, but all
emotional signals, such as in tone of voice, facial expressions, body
positioning and action. They are very complex signals, something like
language, that we DO respond to, mostly below our awareness, so we can
ignore the ones we aren't interested in, all without being troubled by
conscious awareness of the process. Experts can train themselves to see
it all consciously, which we do in my school." He said, "But you don't
need to, with your emotion sensing." I said, "Yes and no. Those signals
express much more than emotions, and some of what they can express
actually don't show up even in conscious thought. For instance, if I
move close to somebody, their physical reactions to that can tell a lot
about a person that even they don't know about." He said, "Oh! I
understand now. Fascinating. We're out of time. Thank you, Solomon, for
being here today." I said, "You're welcome." We were off air.
I said, "Was that what the public most wanted to know? I thought you
would ask about past lives." He looked crestfallen. I said, "Oops!" He
said, "That's my line!" I said, "I actually knew that. Did you know I
was a woman in Sparta?" He said, "That would be interesting!" I said,
"For history enthusiasts, maybe, but there wasn't anything else of
interest in that life. Most are like that. Ordinary for the times. Had
some interesting lives in the Americas, though. He said, "Mayan?" I
said, "Not yours, mine!" He chuckled. I said, "Control room still
connected?" He grinned and said, "Yes, and still laughing. I walked
into that one. But there is one I'm sure of. Going to reveal it
someday?" I said, "Not much point. His whole life is pretty much an
open book. A lot of them, actually. Claiming to be him could reduce my
creds, because of that." He said, "But people know you can see anything
in the past, even better." I said, "Not as real to them. I tried to
forgive my son for trying to have the Brits kill me, but he never
forgave me for being a revolutionary. But his son, my grandson, loved
me, and lived with me at the end of that life. One thing I regret,
which I didn't then, was I never approved of anything my daughter did.
She still loved me, though. I should have been better to her, and to my
wife who never understood my varied interests. Even one of my best
lives, has things in it that hurts." He said, "I'm sorry. I should
remember that. But being a journalist, makes me push." I said, "I know.
My choice, actually. I let it. That life could be a good platform to
show what helped to cause the abolitionist movement." He said, "What
was that?" I grinned and said, "Ha! Got you hooked!" He said, "You did.
Not going to say?" I said, "Save your reactions for a show. Producer
agrees." He said, "Don't listen to him!" We chuckled. We hugged with
love, and I shifted away.
The Dem presidential candidate I didn't approve, dropped out of the
race in a news conference. To a question about me, he ranted and raved
against me, looking like a lunatic, severely startling the reporters.
Then he wound down, and then stomped out of the room. The reporters
were stunned. Then they went to work making it as much worse as they
could, like usual. I was asked to comment. I did a small interview with
Greg. They played his rant. Greg said, "What do you think of that?" I
said, "He wasn't very happy." He said, "He blames you for, actually, I
don't know what." I said, "Yes, confusion causes confusion. I didn't
make him leave the race, or in this case, almost leave the human race.
That was NOT an exhibition of perfect mental health! If that microphone
had moved, he might have bit it in half. I know that might sound funny
to some, but I'm serious. That's what it seemed like to me. Shocking.
But that's not the worst of it. I feel very sorry for his family and
friends, and what they will go through in feelings, and how their
friends will feel about it, and them." He said, "We haven't heard
anything yet from them." I said, "Could be wise of them. What could
they say? If I were them, I would want to forget it ever happened. I
hope the media and their friends will let them do that."
He said, "Do you think he was trying to hurt you?" I said, "I don't
know his full motives for saying what he did, and he might not,
himself, but to think I might have contributed to his problems that
caused that, actually did hurt me. If he wanted that, he did succeed.
If that helps him to heal, I'm glad for him. When anybody is hurt, I
hurt with them. When I could have caused it, I hurt more than they do."
He said, "Will you stop doing approvals?" I said, "I will not stop
doing approvals. I must do my duty, even if it hurts. Actually, most I
do for this world and others, hurts. It doesn't make a difference in
what I do. It can't. I can't let it. And this case proves why, very
dramatically. Would you want someone who will do something like that,
as president?" He said, "Oh! You disapproved him because he was
unstable! That's proof right there that your approvals are very much
needed." I said, "I'm not sure everybody will see it that way, but it
IS part of it. Hawk and Rose have volunteered to do approvals in my
place, and they are more than fully qualified for that. We'll see if
that happens." He said, "Thank you Solomon for helping us to understand
this unfortunate incident." I said, "My duty." We were then off air.
I said, "He needs help." He said, "Would you agree to treat him?" I
said, "Wouldn't work, and not just because I don't handle human bites
very well. I would be the last therapist he would choose, if he would
choose to see anyone. People like this usually need a real
intervention, but they don't get it, because human nature makes people
very afraid of such things." He said, "Why is that?" I said, "Human
genetic survival trait, and a hold over from earlier primates. Fear of
severely unpredictable people, and most so, those in rage. Happens in a
small community in prehistoric times in emergencies, they could be
wiped out. Persisted into modern times as demonic possession as an
explanation, and some still see it that way, making it even more scary,
because people still don't know why they fear it." He said, "I see.
Thanks." I said, "Sorry. I didn't mean to get all academic on you." He
said, "No, that's fine. When a well recognized authority says something
from that perspective, I listen!" I said, "For me, I then go out and
get a degree in it, or they just drop it on me." Chuckles. We hugged
with love.
At home, Galya said, "That was a bad one. I don't care why, it's
still scary!" Mom said, "I wonder how he would feel in reviewing a
video of that?" I said, "Probably dissociation. Like it was somebody
else, not him. He might even not remember doing it. Not ethical for us
to watch for that, though." We shared sad love.
