Solomon's Private File #100
These stories about Stephen and Solomon take place starting in
1950's. Stephen wrote about his life in letters to a penpal, and then
in a secure blog, in case he lost his memory again, in the master
computer in his school for gifted students, which he started attending
in 2016 in a new incarnation, until his death. Now his son Solomon is
attending the same school, and is writing in his own secure blog for
his future incarnations.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
Solomon is 17 in this story, in the Winter of 2043-2044.

George said to me, "I want to try time diving. Monitor?" I said,
"Ready." He went unconscious. 11 seconds. I told him that when he woke
up, and said, "No damage." He tried and was out 6 seconds. I said, "I
didn't expect this. Getting any blurred perceptions?" He said, "None."
I said, "Advice; Try again in a month." He said, "I agree. It's not
urgent. Speculation?" I said, "You might not want to hear it." He said,
"You mean I can't?" I said, "Actually, the opposite. Possible you are
able, but being blocked." He said, "We're only allowed to have one at a
time?" I said, "I don't know, but could be it. Maybe even only one per
dimension. Maybe more could cause a disastrous conflict, if being used
at the same time. I don't know, and I'm a little reluctant to ask. I
could lose it then." He said, "Wow!" I said, "That, too." Pokes.
We told Daren. He wanted to try. Twice, with then same results. Then
once more, and he was out for 29 seconds. When he came to, he said, "I
could feel it! Blocked! No source I recognized." I said, "I'm sorry!"
He said, "I get it. One of us can do it after you die. Don't. We'll all
live with this." We hugged and kissed. Later I said to my stone, "Their
stones blocked them." He said, "Yes. They could have gone back into
your timeline and read your mind when you discovered who we are." I
said, "I figured that. Not a happy thing now." He said, "I'm sorry." I
said, "Something you should know. I already knew who you were. I was
watching Dad's stone very carefully when he died, and yes, I could even
then, hide things from you. One thing I would like to know, but I don't
know how to find out now; are my special mind compartments open to past
time inspection? I have a feeling they aren't. And do you really think
you should ban all time diving forever, after I go?" He said, "You have
thought beyond my ability in this. Things I didn't consider." I said,
"Is there one of you, like some master guru, who might help with this?"
He said, "Your father met one once, who was in the past a star drive
enabler for an Originator ship, that stopped working when it became a
Van ship." I said, "I'm getting a thought. The star drive used time
manipulation." He said, "It was fascinating watching that thought
evolve!" I said, "Same here, but that isn't going to distract me." He
said with humor, "I had hoped. There is this. We share a connection to
another dimension." I said, "I knew that. It's what enables your
communication, and partially, your intelligence, extra from the spirit
dimension. I think you can also use that dimension like I use the 4th,
to do some traveling when you need to, but it's not easy." He said,
"Wow! I didn't expect that!" I said with smug humor, "Good." He laughed
his way.
I said, "Can he communicate across times? Say I go back to that
encounter, and then a little beyond it, and attempt to contact that big
blob, could he communicate in real time then?" He said, "You continue
to surprise me! Yes, he can. Time manipulation is his specialty. I
would have to contact him first, or he would ignore you." I said, "Then
let's get started." He told me where and when I should time dive to. He
did the contact, and then the big one said in my mind, "We did not
foresee this." I grinned in my mind, which he returned. He said, "I
didn't know I would like you. Yes, you are partially correct. Your
special mind compartments, while they might be detected by a time
diver, are not viewable without the mental capacity only you have, and
possibly us. But not all of the information that should be restricted
went directly into those compartments." I said, "There is something you
can offer that I think you are waiting for me to ask for. You have the
ability to shield your mind from time divers, that extends all the way
back and forward in time. I request that you give me that knowledge and
ability." There was a burst of love and pride from my own stone. I
said, "Everybody wants to embarrass me!" They laughed.
I had a special compartment ready for it, and he pushed it at me. I
said, "That deserves a really big Wow! There is much more that can be
done with that." I showed them, and they expressed some wows of their
own. The big stone said, "That will be a big help to us. After we do a
lot of thinking to understand it better." I said, "Well, you DO have
er, time for that." Laughter. I thanked them. Then I dove along my own
timeline to before I had learned anything that shouldn't be shared, and
further back to my birth. Then I blocked the mind there against time
divers, and then came forward and did that all along the line until the
present when I had set it up to continue indefinitely. Then I did some
thinking, and decided to try it. I went to the birth of the first
modern Stephen, and all along his timeline, I blocked it against time
divers. And then I did the same for the Second Stephen. Back in the
present at home, I said to my stone, "Bet you didn't think of that, did
you." He said, "Not only didn't I think of it, I didn't know it was
possible." I said, "I didn't know, either. But trying anyway, is what
makes the previously thought impossible, possible." He said, "And
amazing!" We shared love and humor. Then I time protected the dimension
viewing plant, and her stored knowledge.
I asked George and Daren to meet with me. I said, "You can do it
now." Daren said, "Time diving? What did you do?" I said, "I can't tell
you, but I think the block is gone." They tried it, and succeeded.
George said, "Still can't tell?" I said, "My aura is even bigger now.
You should know by that, there are some things I just can't share with
head. They both said, "Wow!" I said, "I agree." Hugs and kisses with
love.
I said to Rangnorik, "Let's go visit the dimension of the flat
people." He said with a grin, "Let's." I said, "Here's the language."
He took it. I said, "And here's how both sets of machines work." He
said, "Wow!" I said, "When ready, I'll port us. Watch it with all your
perceptions wide open to the finest detail." He said, "Ready!" And we
were there. They were expecting us, and we had a nice visit. I had him
watching the port back to Earth. I said, "Comments?" He said, "It was a
different twist each way. I'll remember the difference." I said, "Now
I'll port us to a place on your world." I did, to an empty city park,
and told him where it was. He said, "New twist memorized." I said, "Now
your turn. Port yourself back to where we left from. Then contact me
here." He did, and said in my mind, "This is amazing!" I said,
"Naturally! What isn't amazing, isn't worth making a fuss about." He
laughed.
I ported to join him, and said, "You still have more to learn and
practice. George will help you with that, like he's been doing. When he
says you're ready, take Daren with you when you explore your world. He
should learn it, too. And there's no reason for you to be lonely doing
it." We hugged and kissed with love.
The new instructor came to visit me at the Bureau. She said, "When I
asked for some time to see you, they smiled." I said, "Likely, they
knew of some things. Or thought they did." She said, "Such as you are
the best martial artist in the world?" I said, "Now how can anybody
really know something like that?" She said, "I see what you mean, but
with who some think you are, it should be likely." I said, "COULD be
likely. Originally, I didn't have any interest in martial arts. I was
required to learn, and became competent. Then I got into an undercover
operation here, and discovered I should be able to do it as a real
expert. So I spent a couple of months of intense study, and with some
of the best teachers. I still don't have much interest in it, but when
I get involved with something, I go all the way." She nodded. I said,
"Now, it's good that I'm not interested. I went too far. My Ki is so
strong, if I let it flow, nobody can even think of attacking me." She
said, "Have you needed to do that?" I said, "No. I'm nice. Who would
want to attack me?" We grinned at each other.
exception." She laughed. I said, "The Inspector wanted to be attacked,
to create a good reason for firing the man. Hard to get rid of Civil
Servants for just incompetence. Probably a good thing, or there might
not be any." More laughter. She said, "But aren't you a Civil Servant?"
I said, "Shrinks in this Department are independent part time
contractors." She said, "Oh! All black belts?" I said, "Absolutely!
Some have been attacked. Poor applicants." Laughed again. She said, "Is
it possible I could take lessons from one of them?" I said, "Can't be
here, or your reputation would suffer, and that would be bad for your
effectiveness. And it would draw way too much attention. And there is
no provision in good security, for doing it anywhere else. But I can
give you some tips. Awareness. Extend it. People tend to discount that
too much. No-mind is your friend, and useful for far more than just
martial arts. Build up your Ki. You have the ability now to strike with
it, but you haven't built up the power for it." I stood, and so did
she. I extended my right hand, and she extended her left. Our palms
touched. I gave her some of my KI. I motioned to my chair, and she
moved away from me and settled into herself, and then she shoved her
palm in the air at the chair, and it moved back and banged into the
wall. She relaxed and said, "Wow!" I said, "I hear that a lot." She
chuckled.
I said, "Stand relaxed. Empty your mind. Be part of the floor.
Circulate your Ki throughout your body, looping it through the floor.
Just imagine it, and make it your iron will. Extend your arms to the
side, setting them in their KI, not to move." I reached out to her
hands, and tried to lift her into the air. She didn't move. I stopped
and said, "Relax. I used 103KGs of force on each arm to try to lift
you." She couldn't even say wow. I grinned. She had to laugh. I said,
"When you build up your own Ki, and learn to have it always in
circulation, you will no longer qualify for a belt. Martial art strikes
will not harm you. You will move like the wind, and with as little
thought, in no-mind. You don't need training for those things, just
practice. And you don't need an opponent, because it's all YOU, and
what you allow to happen to you." She had tears in her eyes, when she
bowed to me in respect. I bowed in return. I offered a hug, and she
accepted. I gave her love. She left, still in a daze. I received a lot
of positive comments for what I had done, and love.
The next day, I got a call from the head of the school. He said,
"What did you DO to her?" He said, "Problem with these voice only calls
is I can't show you my amazing attempt to look innocent." He laughed
very well. I said, "What makes you think I did anything to some unnamed
person?" He said, "You know who I mean. She came back in a daze
yesterday, and today, I don't know how to describe it. I don't know how
it's possible, but she's even more competent! More patient, more
precise. She even walks more smoothly, and people somehow respect her
more, even when they don't know what she teaches. I don't know, but she
almost glows." I said, "Are you saying I turned her into an overly
respected lightbulb?" He laughed and said, "I know. I sounded crazy.
But you had to have done something." I said, "Well, I admit to
breathing. If you want to know, why don't you just ask her? Oh, don't
tell me you're embarrassed." He said, "Oh, alright. I should have known
you would see that." I said, "Right. Whatever that is. I do admit to
having some curiosity about what she might say, and even how coherent
it might be to you, so soon after whatever happened." He said, "Now
you've made me even more curious!" I said, "Not MY problem." He
chuckled, and we hung up.
A week later he called me, and said, "A trainee got angry and
attacked her. He just bounced off! It was like she didn't notice it. A
different time, two trainees got into a fight. She walked up to them,
and they stopped just like that. She didn't say or do a thing, and they
didn't even look angry!" I said, "That's good. So she discovered that
on her own. I like that. It's a martial arts thing. She's learning to
use her Ki. That's Senior Master level." He said, "Oh! You gave her
lessons." I said, "Did she say that?" He said, "No, but you must have."
I said, "I didn't. I just coached her into doing what she already
could, but wasn't aware of. That's all. Just a few minutes of talk. And
some wows, too." He said, "I've had a lot of wows for this, too. She's
terrific, and is making us all better." I said, "Well, I don't suppose
it would hurt to pass that opinion on up the line." He said, "Right.
Thanks! Thank you for all you do for us!" I said, "Your welcome. Now
get back to admiring her." He laughed.
