Yes, well that's what happens when you move in with a Dewd who has a
"flag-pole" penis. :-D You always come up on the short end of
the...errr ....um..... stick. :-P

Yes, if you do cmd-I on the file, it will tell you the exact size in
bytes, and in OS X you can also use the terminal app to list the file
size.
Mac OS though has a forked file system (now obsolete) that makes things
really wacky-tobackey in terms of working with PCs, as the size you get
on the Mac includes both forks. So you may get a different answer if
you copy the file to the forkless PC filesystem. It might even
disappear and have 0 bytes if all data was in the resource fork.
The Finder is also a notorious liar in its window views, which show the
clustered size of the file (ie how may disk blocks it's taking up)
rather than actual size. So, for instance, a 163-byte file shows as 4K.
Stinkers. I guess that prevents noobs from adding up their file sizes
and wondering where all their "extra" space is.
And there's also the raging controversy over whether a megabyte is
1,000,000 bytes or 1,048,576 bytes--hard drives usually cheat with the
former number.

Hi KH. Mission Control here. We'll get back to you when we figure out
which one of these little green blips on the screen is you.
And just what *is* Dewd doing to you? The blippety-blips on your vital
sign readings look like ping-pong balls in a blender. We're pretty sure
it isn't supposed to be that way. Everything normal up there? And
what's that thudding noise? Also, re: your request for six extra
pillows, what happened to the ones we sent on the last Soyuz?
Oh, and just so you know, a big chuck of foam hit your wing on the way
up, but we're sure everything's fine. You might want to get the duct
tape and plastic sheeting out and do something about the gaping hole in
the leading edge, though. You should find them under the six crates of
Orville Redenbacher.
We'll wake you up in the morning with Unforgiven's CD of "Classic Porn
Film Music, Volume Seven." Mission Control out.

I *KNEW* it! Your nerdiness quotient is off the scale, KH. But, I guess
that's what we'd expect from somebody who started hacking when they
were still in diapers. :-) Well, almost. Kind of humbling to think that
at the age most of us were finger-painting, you were field-stripping
mainframes and torturing the DOS prompt. Which, of course, catapaulted
you to your current evil plan to subjugate the world's governments and
financial systems with your 2.5THz Frankenputer. Yesterday, hacking in
kindergarden; tomorrow, total world domination.

Yeah, I'll see you when you see me. NP's a real Buddha eh? It sounds
like Buckaroo Banzai's "wherever you go, there you are." Has kind of a
zen quality to it. Oh, and about this hiatus of his. I found out his
server's fine. They just got a new shipment of Rocky Road in at the
Fort Sweet Shoppe and nobody's been able to get the spoon away from
him. We may hear from him in a few months when he's able to eat his way
out.
:-)
