Hi Raven:
PLONK is not his name. It's Condoleezza. PLONK is what he did when
he saw your post. He put you in a kill filter, so he wouldn't have to
see your posts. Condi is one of the largest posters of binaries to
the groups. He's one of the "Big Ones", as you described in your
post. You may not have realized that, because he uses different nics
in different groups. Many posters do that. Would you like to know
why?
Ok I'll tell you anyway. Posters use different nics, in part, so that
undesirable elements have a difficult time tracking them from one
group to another. Basically, they do it for the same reason that it's
taboo to name group names and cross post. AND, post the same message
to several of the groups, like *you* did.
Posting the same message to several groups has several potentially
adverse affects. If your message has the same subject or other part
of the header, you are easily tracked from group to group. Another
ill affect is that your movie could be posted two or three (or more)
times, pushing other files off the server. YOU may want those files.
Others sometimes want those files. Most importantly (to me), is that
your numerous identical posts seem obnoxious and rude, and won't
endear you to most of the "Big Ones".
Now, would you like some advise on how to do it better next time?
Too bad, I'm giving it anyway. :)
I noticed something about all your posts that I doubt you are aware
of. You managed to post your request to most of the BL groups, but
the one group you missed is the one dedicated to Japanese boy movies!
How could you have missed the one group with the greatest chance of
posting your request? Could it be that you are spending too much time
posting requests all over the place, and not enough time reading the
posts of others, and interacting with the community?
There are several posters in the groups that would be happy to post
your movie, if they can. Rather than posting multiple requests all
over the place, maybe you should consider a polite request to one of
the posters. They are nice people, and they also like to interact
with the people they post for. THAT'S YOU! (me too) I'm not saying
the movie will get posted immediately. But I will say this. I have
had several movies posted for me, but I never posted a request. The
posters asked ME if I wanted a movie posted. Why? Because I took the
time to develop relationships with them. Because I thanked them for
their efforts. Because I was patient in fulfilling my own desires.
Basically, I just tried to be friendly. I got my movies, BUT I also
got much, much more.
If you would like, I will write more to you about these things. Just
let me know, here, in this *one* group. :)
Take care,
