There are people in these newsgroups who know me personally. Some I've
helped to discover and access the newsgroups, but don't post. Some do
post. Other people here, I've known for years. They can see the
evidence of my typing problems in our instant messages, just as they
can see me, and how I live, in person. So how could I get away with
lying? Not that I want to.
Spellcheckers aren't perfect, and neither am I. At least I try. :-)
I also prefer to be a contributor, and to help people improve
themselves, not someone who just denigrates others.
I prefer to build people up, not tear them down. Of course, this can
cause some growing pains, but not nearly as much as when someone really
abuses them.
There is one thing about Usenet you should be aware of. The time stamp
on posts can be strangely inaccurate. Sometimes I've replied to posts
even before they were posted, if some of the official posting times
were true. Many times I've seen posts arrive with a future time on
them, and sometimes no time at all. Some of my posts have shown up on
some servers a day after I posted them, and before I posted them, on
other servers. I could yell you more about how and why this happens, if
you want me to, but somehow I doubt it. :-)
If you want to be a part of a *civilized* community, you might want to
hold back on the intemperate language, unwarranted assumptions, and
false accusations. Think you can do that? Do you want to?
