How To Guide - Joining and Viewing
This is for split files that look
like this: "andy.mpg.001"
(If they look like this: "andy.mpg.001 yEnc", see the yEnc guide)
These movie parts *might* be able
to be viewed individually with:
Super Decoder (free)
http://mediasite.de/toy4boys (advanced software page)
http://www.jas-etc.com/
and some have had luck with Xing Mpeg Player
( http://mediasite.de/toy4boys )
these 2 movie viewers are great in the fact that
you can preview a movie by downloading a few parts
and playing them to see if the movie interests you or not.
----------------
Once your interested and want be able to view the
movie as a full length feature, you will want to
get a file joiner to put the parts back together.
JAS (Just Another Splitter) (freeware)
was designed by a group member {Thanks Singularity},
it has many features that other joiners don't.
You can get JAS at any of these sites:
http://www.mpeghelp.com http://thempegfiles.da.ru/
{Thanks the boyz}
http://mediasite.de/toy4boys http://toy4boys.da.ru
{Thanks Toy4Boys}
http://www.sathanasprime.de/TOOLS/tools.html
{Thanks Dumbo Elephant}
http://www.fortunecity.de/village/abba/29/englisch/bilderfilme/jas/jas.html
{Thanks Gayboy Norderstedt}
http://www.jas-etc.com/
http://www.inetcomgroup.com/freeedge/downloads.html
http://www.geocities.com/prinze30_au/
After you download and install JAS
all you have to do is double click
the 000 file of the any movie
(example: andy.mpg.000)
JAS will open and start doing it's thing.
A few more clicks and JAS will join the movie parts
(example: andy.mpg.001 + andy.mpg.002 + andy.mpg.003)
into a playable movie
(example: andy.mpg)
To view, just double click on the movie
that JAS just created, the one without any
numbers after it (example: andy.mpg),
Windows Media Player should have come
pre-installed on your computer, it will
automatically open and start playing the movie.
Note: You can join if you are missing some parts,
but the 001 file is necessary for the joined
movie to play, it contains info that the player
needs to identify the file. Some movies might
pause or even hang up during playback when parts
are missing. The free players listed here are
known to play without pausing or hanging:
IrfanView

woldo's mpg player
www.wolfdd.cjb.net (thanks porscheboy)
(ardo said:a very GOOD videoplayer- Radlight free from www.radlight.com )
Note: 2 movie you might see posted here, rbvsergepart16
and kdv17 are a different format from most movies here,
they will need every single uncorrupted part to play right.
They won't play past missing or corrupt parts.
Notes:
After downloading each movie part, could take 3 minutes or
more with a 56k modem, you need to 'save' each movie part
to a folder on you computer.
In Outlook Express; go to "File" and then "Save Attachment"
(or refer to your newsreaders help files for something
like "saving binary attachments" or "saving attached files")
if you seem to be missing alot of parts
you may want to consider getting a "premium" news service.
according to the people in the group, these seem
to be the best premium news services right now:
UseNetServer.com , GigaNews.com and Newscene.com
they all have plans for around 10 bucks a month
if you don't have a credit card,
I hear Newscene even takes money orders
you might want to take a look at this web site,
Terminator says it has a good comparison
of the popular "premium" news services:

If your new to downloading programs, you will need a
zip program to unzip the joiner programs. All the programs
(including the zip program) need to be installed
after you download them. All the JAS sites (above) have
links to free Zip programs.
